It better not be a seventh month wait to get Sweeter Than Fiction on streaming.

praying with all my might for that the 1989 on the cover will end up being a sticker but that seems so unlikely :gaycat6:

like, this will always haunt me and I will never understand the thought behind it

When ‘Is It Over Now?’ as the last track turns out to be a hint all along and she drops the remix ep/deluxe album 13 hours after release, that includes the BB remix and all the vault tracks with features or make it even messier by turning the entire album into a duets project :sistrens:

When we’re expecting all vault tracks to sound like New Romantics but they actually sound like It’s Nice to Skip this Song

Genuine question (truly no shade) but do yall really believe that the vault songs are really songs that she wrote in 2013-2014? Some of the lines on the Red TV vault track for example makes me think she edited them to fit her life right now

She may have changed few lines here and there but yeah the songs were written during RED era.

ofc she has edited some of the lines (or even the melody) and that’s fine. I think some of these vault songs were not even fully written/ or just some demo before she decided to release them lately

This. She did change lyrics slightly (on FW TV). The og FW & a snippet of Run’s demo l-worded a few months ago (with Taylor’s 2012 vocals) so they’re clearly from that timeframe.

the only song she did that for is ATW10min version because there was probably never actually a full 10 minute version. she mentioned in an interview that if she had put everything she wanted to in the song it would be like 10 minutes so she probably wasn't being literal and the version they had was maybe 7-8min. fans just ran with the 10min thing so she had to deliver

also the lines she cut she cut for a reason so some of them were probably trash and she knew the 10min version would be a big moment so she improved them

I believe RideorDie confirmed the 1989 vault is legit sometime in this thread, and given the OG Red leaks I think she’s probably kept these songs intact.

My guess would be that certain songs were never fully produced so she had more leeway when recording them for the TVs. Like I believe Don’t You was written for Fearless and that I Can See You was written for SN but that she purposefully made them sound a little more modern.

the only fake vault tracks are ATW10 (because it never existed in the first place) and You’re Losing Me (there’s just no way she wrote this song during the Midnights sessions lol).

all the rest are legit I think, even if she might have tweaked them here and there.

for 1989 though, no other titles leaked so I guess we don’t know

Don't You was in fact written during the Fearless era but it had no production, there was only a piano demo I believe (confirmed by the Inner Circle years before Fearless TV), so I guess that's why she took creative license with the instrumental. No idea about ICSY tho but I believe every Speak Now vault has been registered for a long long time

the only song I think was mostly rewritten is ATW10MV

Yeah, I believe the same! I thought I remembered hearing something similar about Don't You as well :jamming:

She also changed the lyrics for Bye Bye Baby. She made the production worse on You All Over Me and We Were Happy.

Based on prior vault songs for other albums, I think it is fair to say that these songs will be “of that period”.  However, I don’t think she had all these songs fully completed just waiting to be released.  They likely existed in various stages of completion, like a demo, and likely needed a bit of a touch up here and there.

With 1989, I’m curious if we get a few vault tracks that were recorded after 1989 was released.  I feel like she decided to go in the direction of reputation in fall of 2016 which means there are almost 2 years of songwriting where she might have been imagining a different direction.

Yeah I think it’ll either be a really upbeat, in-your-face pop banger with satirical lyrics; or a slower/mid-tempo song about sexism and how everything she did and all her relationships were scrutinised (the “stay away from her, she’ll write songs about you” headlines, etc). I’ve got a feeling it’s a really good song and probably got left behind because BM and Scott wanted to maintain her clean “girl next door” image. That’s just conjecture, of course, but she did touch upon this issue on Miss Americana documentary.
