the fact that 1989 was one of the first cd's ive ever bought still makes me so nostalgic. i remember being pissed i didnt get those polaroids and illegally downloading the deluxe version on deviantart :swim2: good times

nnn I wasn’t THAT young when it came out, but I was still young enough that I was caught up in all that stupid stan war stuff. I actually waited to buy 1989 until the SECOND week because I didn’t want her to beat Britney’s record :toofunny3: Which doesn’t even matter now because Taylor ended up breaking it… two times now I think?

She broke it once with Midnights (1.56M)

I don't think 1989 TV will break Oops! I Did It Again first week sales however.

Considering 1989 TV is already 400-450k away from OIDIA's first week, I think it's a given.

how is everyone sure that the pre-order units are real is my only question tbh

The way im still annoyed asf that 1989 has been diamond for years now and it's still certified at ugly 9x platinum. It's like 12x platinum right?

Because for most of the variants, the numbers of pre-orders could be tracked on her website. Then they extrapolated the numbers we had for the items for which it was no longer possible to track the total availability. Currently a wide estimation of pre-orders is 800-900k, but it is very likely closer to 900k.

Yes it is.

Her entire discography is wildly under-certified in the US. Even Midnights, the most recent release, is still 2X platinum when it's nearing 6M units. :rip:

Slvt is going to be like Kesha’s See You Next Tuesday or If You Seek Amy by Britney isn’t it. Sorry loves utterly tarnished or something where the first four letters spell **** or if you phrase it just right you get a coyly worded song

I hope she just gets it over with and does a certifying spree. Last year she certified Lover 3x Plat but after the eras tour its already at 6M almost as well :rip:

I don't remember who I had this conversation with, but outside of the fact that certifications are pretty useless in reality, there are two reasons why she is probably not certifying:

1) She is currently moving so many units between songs and albums that every certifications would be quickly outdated and they'd have to pay again for a new one

2) Certification updates are usually made to get a quick media coverage, which she clearly doesn't need at the moment

I imagine they will update everything later on, but this might not be before she slows down both commercially and in productivity (so not before the end of the decade :rip:).

by then she can certify Midnights Diamond along with 1989 lmao

I Wish You Would is an unwashable skid mark on the OG 1989 and it will be the same for the TV :sorry:

Trigger warning: 1989 bashing

I never understood the appeal of the trifecta I Wish You Would, How You Get The Girl and All You Had To Do Was Stay. They are some of the most generic songs she's ever written, and in a boring kinda of way. Like they are not even bad so you can trash them, they are just there.

The definition of fillers.

I don’t know what song you’re referencing. Is that an unreleased/leaked track?
