Is that 800k figure including the Target exclusive pre-orders?

it was already close to 800k before the target exclusive but it's way over that now probably

What are the confirmed (somewhat, you know what I mean) numbers for the Target editions?

I think Max Martin is just not interested. Probably for him it's very boring and not interesting to stay there trying to reproduce again a song he already made.  It's not like a very creative process and also he doesn't needs the money  so...

Midnights only had 550K pre-orders before it was released, not sure where someone is getting 800K from. This already has exponentially more pre-orders than Midnights ever did :celestial5:

I am usually the one to be optimistic (ie, I immediately knew Midnights would do 1M and Speak Now TV would outdo Red TV, etc) but I highly doubt this will take up the entire top 10 on the Hot 100. Even if the tracks somehow debuted better than Midnights on streaming, they won’t stay quite as stable, which is understandable because it’s a re-recording.

Only 1 song from Speak Now TV and Red TV went top 10, and 0 from Fearless TV. I wouldn’t be shocked if this could place, like, 5 (or more) in the top 10 though. That would be beyond huge.

of course it won't.

I think some fans have too high expectations about this album streaming side. People are already listening to style and blank space and shake it off every day (they are charting on spotify even now) so they will listen the new versions like 1 time for curiosity and then bye (especially if they sound different). This love and wildest dreams have been already released so their streams won't be as big as they would have been if new too.

I expected more than 37k tbh, even though the 1st hour is missing

it could be the fact that it's the same cover as the original. but target did a massive restock of the tangerine edition so maybe it's selling well

Not 37k being "low" :rip: we are warped af huh?

either way it's just a target edition and people usually get those when they're in stores

This damn Target edition got me so hyped today and the album is still a month and a half away. Whoever said last month that 1989 activates some kind of sleeper cell in all Swifties, like, yes, my body is not my own it belongs to Clean TV

I really think this October is going to truly, really be the moment we reach Peak Swift and I’m so ready :jonny2:

This was so ******* funny :deadbanana4: and so damn true at that. 1989 is very low in her discography for me and yet it activated a level of anticipation in me I don’t know if I’ve ever felt before :ahh:

Vinyl variants that have the same cover as the original don't sell too much. Speak Now variants didn't sell more than 30k on her webstore. 37k sales + the whole first hour could be +60k sales easily. That's pretty good. Counting these Target sales I think the total number of preorders could be anywhere between 650-850k. It's definitely crossing 1M and almost definitely beating the OG.

Do you guys think she will sell 1 mil physical copies in the US alone on pre-orders?

She would need less than like 200k but it sounds a lot, especially without another variant or signed copies. I don’t think she will, I could see it ending up at around 900k/a bit less than that.

All these amazing variants whew 1989 the bright pop album that you are :jonny5: watch the girls drag her for all these variants but none of their faves have the demand :fan:

Contrasting this with the Rep TV era would be such a kii :WAP: the glossy black, silver, marble white vinyls whew I just know she's planning these eras 2 years from release!

ik doubting her chart power usually doesn't end well, but i can see this getting...5-7 top 10s on debut. midnights benefitted from being an entirely new set of songs, and while i can def see several of the og singles charting top 10, it won't be enough to displace the top 3-5 in points.

the vault single top 2 (we'll see what happens that week :lakitu:), style/blank space top 5, shake it off/bad blood/wildest dreams top 8, and out of the woods/new romantics/clean as possible sneaks. this is subject to change depending on the vault features too LMAO

Midnights also benefited from a pretty weak #1 at the time (Unholy), so a lot will depend on what's popping during her release week, but I can totally see another full Top 10/12 to her name simply because of Taylormania alone.

So, Tangerine edition of 1989 contains 6th Vault track, right? Or it would be previously released song tucked onto this edition and not from the vault?
