Taylor Swift - '1989 (Taylor's Version)'

I just don't find joy in listening to a song about a child killing itself. Production is cute, but yeah, just not a song I'd actively choose to listen to.

I think that a lot of why Forever Winter is special to the fanbase is because of why that tragedy ultimately occurred. Hearing an artist who means so much to us showing this kind of unconditional love and support for a personal friend who felt things many of us have felt is a powerful experience. It’s also just incredibly good.

Better Man is kind of her best vault track though if we're being real

I’m not sure everyone is ready for that conversation but, well, yes :celestial5: I happen to LOVE the 1989 vault so we’ll see if any of those surpass it for me, but it’s very hard to imagine they will. Better Man is honestly one of the best songs of all time IMO and shouldn’t have been left off Red just because ATW was the better choice as a track 5.

The Red vault was just incredible, honestly. It could have been a standalone album without anything else added and it would make it to my top three with Evermore and Red. :deadbanana:

Forever Winter is one of her very best songs. I just wish they kept the piano part of the demo

when someone introduced me to the demo i was shook, they lowkey overproduced it, should've left it simpler. it's still my most fave red vault track.

Eh. It's just too Ronan for me. Pass to listen to it.

Now Better Man (and BABE), is a very excellent vault track.

As someone who never listened to OG Red (and cannot now without laughing at her terrible vocals), Red TV was a brand new album for me in 2021 and the album that made me a Swiftie 4 Lyfe.

As an obsessed ****! stan and notorious former IION denialist, I actually have to agree. Get that #1 and another legitimate hit for the year, Tay :clap3:

Forever Winter is such a unique gem in her catalog. She has so many songs about love and the mechanics of how relationships work or crumble so its nice to have something thematically different. Forever Winter's theme is just heart wrenching especially when you know it was personal and something she experienced....it's also one of the songs where you hear her really have this next level empathy for someone dealing with something so dark and then you add in the fact that she herself was so young at the time that this event occurred and it just adds another emotional layer because the lyrics in some parts of the song are so juvenile but you hear her sing them with her older vocal tone and it's almost like someone reading an emotional journal / diary entry from 10 years ago and it's just...wow. Not to mention the production is so beautiful. Something about it is so nostalgic and sad and reminds me of like an outro song to a really melancholic coming of age independent film I would have watched like 10 years ago or something

Taylor having 1# biggest streams, #1 biggest radio and #1 biggest sales with 3 different songs is iconic:dies:

I hope Slvt! somehow sneaks a week on top and then she replaces herself with Is It Over Now? or Cruel Summer :-*

Watch radio just barely put ****! over the edge for #1 because she hasn’t officially sent any of the songs, then IION gets sent to radio and goes #1 later after the Christmas freeze :jonnycat: (nobody tell me how unrealistic this is, let me dream)

“No impact!!!” yet the entire global music business continued to change because of her :rip:

Could you post the article? I don't have access to it.

Though I'd say that for once, that's the negative side of the impact of the re-recording process. Sure, she raised and continue to raise a very high level of awareness to the topic of owning your work and what can happen even to the biggest artists who were not careful early on. However, it was inevitable that the labels would try to prevent that from happening ever again considering how successful her entreprise has been.

Now That We Don't Talk is the only one of these vault tracks that I find myself going back to - hoping Reputation TV has some more treasures to share.

I don’t either, but if you refresh the page and then stop it from refreshing fast enough, you can get through the paywall bc Billboard has extremely bad website design :fan: If you’re on an iPhone then turning reader on works, too.

I'd post the text here for you but I think there’s a copyright rule about that.

How often is the very last song on the album the one with getting the most streams.

IION hitting #1 is iconic considering it has no advantages

  • Last song on the album
  • No radio
  • No announcement
  • No video
  • Barely any playlisting, no TTH (it's outside the Top 10 of New Music Friday)

Not sure if a song like this has ever debuted at #1?

Not labels wanting to take away the right to re record an album for 30 years :biblionana: maybe give the artists better conditions where they can actually own their masters… Labels are so greedy, I swear.

I think she’s made her choice

As always when it comes to singles choice, a mistake. It's doing one of the worst and it won't touch number 1. Dumb!
