i was hoping for some more Max Martin bops. It has been ages . Message in a bottle is cute but i need more Max/Taylor magic

still excited for the vaults though only because she hyped it on her announce post, she is hardly ever hype her music.

I remember hearing something about how Max demands a minimum number of songs in an album to be credited as executive producer (10 iirc), so I expected these to be the Jack ones that got pushed out

Also he charges somewhere between 100-200K just to record a single song. Scott Borchetta was cheap back then and wouldn't allow any track he paid that much money for to be cut from the album.

Message in the Bottle was only cut from Red because they were still trying to make it a country album. There was no way that any half decent Max Martin song would have been cut from 1989. On the other hand, she could record stuff with Jack with no pressure about whether it would make the album.

Excited! Jack antonoff + Taylor is amazing and brought us so many of her best songs like august, ATW10 and cruel summer. He’s able to bring her visions to life. I think the vault tracks will be stellar. Excited about the 2 new collaborators!

Jack continues to destroy her musical legacy

Swifties love him cause Taylor loves him.

He hasn't done anything interesting for Taylor in years.

This is highly disappointing

I’ve never heard that, but it’s well known that he’s pricey. I don’t think Taylor isn’t getting him because she can’t afford it (imagine thinking that :rip:), but rather, she doesn’t really need him tbh. All of the pop TVs have sounded fine. The only “botch” along the way has been WANEGBT, but that had nothing to do with the production and everything to do with her vocals. :rip: What we really need to be doing is bullying her into re-recording those vocals, bg vocals, and adlibs. :biblio:

Not the absolute unnecessary meltdown already. Friday is going to be iconic.

Exactly.

I expect at least ****! and Say Don't GO will be a slay.

Even though I crave Max Martin pop excellence but there's no way it would happen like even if there are co writes it's not like he's producing them.

For me songs like IWYW, OOTW and YAIL added 80s feel to the album and so I'm not mad the vault tracks will be produced by Jack.

If she LEFT New Romantics off of the original standard release of 1989 in favor of Welcome to New York and How You Get the Girl there’s no doubt in my mind those vault tracks are earth shattering pop masterpieces

Exactly. Those three songs are all so interesting production wise and add so much to 1989. Jack knows what he's doing.

Oooh there’re finally some confirmed writing credits!

Looks like "Slvt!" will be a banger! Patrik Berger, was also involved in “Dancing on my Own” by Robyn, so it going to be good. Say Don't Go being the Diane Warren collab is the exciting one to me, I'm really looking forward to hearing that!

Now that we have the real credits, my predictions for the sound:

- ****!: Patrik is a pop wizard, I kinda expect it to be like Charli’s You (Ha Ha Ha) based on the title but slightly Jack’d with a breathier anthemic chorus

- Say Don’t Go: we already know a classic ballad is coming given rideordie’s hints and Warren’s golden repertoire

- Now That We Don’t Talk: the short length could go either way, either something chill (INTHAF and Glitch) or a rapidfire smash; this is 1989 so definitely the latter

- Suburban Legends: my claimed song since day 1; I’m sensing a Bleachers type HYMN like Rollercoaster and Shadow, or I Wish You Would for an album-specific comparison

- Is It Over Now?: a Clean 2.0 most likely

Sad about no Imogen, but Jack is great with 80s-inspired musical landscapes so I’m very excited overall!

How would you feel if the vault tracks sounded like these songs?

Extremely pleased! 1989 would finally achieve the full potential of its 80s vision. Thank you Godonoff.

I love to see Godonoff winning :gaylorcat2:

I love those songs so I'd be here for it. When she started collaborating with Jack, I expected more of her songs to sound more along the lines of his more signature sounds at the time similar to Out of the Woods and Daylight.

we only know their songwriters, Christopher Rowe is probably the main producer (he produced This Love TV and Wildest Dreams TV)

I just realize that Max only wrote 9 out of 21 tracks (Taylor said he didn't write Shake It Off but he still had the credit)
