This has been added to my cannon of masterpieces that were too weird and divisive for awards season (see: Suspiria, Bones & All, etc).

Gorgeous. Hilarious. Extremely h-word. The 2006 soundtrack! Rosamund Pike!

Oh, that was insane but I fucking loved it. The ending!!! Barry Keoghan is hot as hell.

Definitely still sorting through my feelings about the twist and what Emerald Fennell was trying to say here. I’m not sure if it’s totally successful but I was entertained enough to cut it some slack. The haters must be poor virgins.

Agreed. I am not sure if she truly stuck the landing, but I was entertained nonetheless! Barry is indeed beautiful, too.

Saw this last night and was left gagged several times... especially with Sophie-Ellis Bexter's musical inclusion. Genius!

I'm also desperate for one night alone with Barry and Jacob IUQB05g.gif

I loved it! :jonnycat:

Those who get it, get it. Those who don’t, don’t! The third act was so good.

I was one of two people in the theater, the other being a middle aged woman, and I couldn’t help but wonder what she was thinking during every wild scene lol.

Not entirely sure how I felt about this. The performances are great (Keoghan and Pike, the legends that you are) and it's a fun time, yet it still feels like it's taking itself too seriously. It reads like it's trying to be a class commentary until the last act throws that out the window, which left me feeling like it's not actually saying anything at all :rip: Keoghan's talent deserves for Oliver to be a more three-dimensional and fleshed-out character too.

Disjointed and contradictory in more ways than one, but still a blast and absolutely gorgeous to look at. Can't help feeling like this could've been a masterpiece in the hands of a more insightful director.

I agree 1000%. Keoghan Pike and Elordi made the movie, but the entire cast was great

Spoiler

The end just made me feel like the entire movie was in fact a gimmick, and had very little substance overall. The first and second act were great (clearly inspired by The Talented Mr Ripley though). The movie as a whole remains very watchable but fails to be a Parasite-type movie which it clearly wants itself to be

Just watched had the same feeling.

The tacky parasite reveal lowered down the movie to a simple mr ripley rip off story when it could have been 30 minutes shorter and end stronger

The twist was to pretictable and plot holy

Enjoyed the journey, though not entirely captivated.

Ferrell's unique voice and style are evident, but the issues I found in PYG persist here. Still, her distinct approach in Hollywood feels refreshing.

She blends gothic elements, comedy of manners, and farce, mostly hitting the mark, except when it falls flat. Visually stunning, with standout performances from Grant and Pike, but the tone wavers, particularly in the third act. The ending's explicit explanation felt unnecessary; leaving it ambiguous would have been more intriguing.

Great soundtrack, as expected.

Spoiler

Jacob's character and another character die during the movie and in the end, when Rosamund's character lays dying from illness, Barry's character reveals he orchestrated everything to take over the estate. He then kills Rosamund's character and the final scene is him dancing around naked in the estate to Murder on the Dancefloor.

Was desperately looking forward to catching this in the cinema but sadly it seems they limited screenings to just US and UK, not even Paris. Netflix movies are plastered on multiplexes here. Amazon  wyd :doc:

Why are y'all calling it a "twist" when it's clear as soon as it happens?

I agree with others here that it could have ended 30 mins earlier, and the audience could have just guessed what he would get up to next. Seeing it all rushed through at the end was a bit messy.

The very last scene ATE though :clap3:

This was super predictable, but I still enjoyed it. Agreed that Fennell didn’t really stick the landing in the final act but even so, this is one of the better movies released this year :clap3:

I wanted to love this but the script was egregious. It's beautifully shot, though.

i'm not sure what points exactly it was trying to make, but it was entertaining and i had a blast in the theater so i'm satisfied! also the cast and the production were all perfect. :turkey:
