Although they have the biggest box office Smash and top movies on Demand. It seems they are failing far worse then competitors on Streaming

I think all streaming services are losing money. Which is unfortunately why the strike will go on for a long time since it would make them lose even more money.

I got a year subscription for $20 and barely use it.

Sony was smarter than the other studios who thought making their own streaming service was a genius move. They signed a deal with Netflix and it’s been making them great money instead of losing billions :rip:

I’m expecting Peacock to be shut down within the next 3 years and them signing a deal with one of Netflix/Amazon/Apple. Probably the latter cause what Apple TV is missing the most is a back catalogue and Universal has tons of iconic shows and films.

Yeah I read constantly about people getting a yearly subscription for peanuts on the BravoRH subreddit... of course they are losing money if they just give their service away almost for free

All of them aren't making money. Amazon is literally just using it as commercial to sell prime subscriptions, so studios are on a worse spot. They all chased Netflix into a cliff and then found out its not really profitable. Now they're going back to ad supported models etc.

Bel-Air is the only successful show they produced in how many years? Not surprised.

I subscribed. It's cool for $4 bucks. The commercials are always in the beginning of the movie it never interrupts. And I'm tired of paying 1.7 million dollars a months for streaming services. As a matter of fact the only two I have is Peacock and Paramount+. I also have Prime Video but that's because I order a lot from Amazon. Lately though I am loving their programing. Jury Duty was hysterical. I cut HBO Max, Netflix, and Disney+(until Loki comes out). I decided I will only pay for a service when there is a show or movie I really want to watch.

Yeah, kinda sucks alot of their shows didn't take off. Saved By the Bell was super funny and trans visibility without it being preachy or a main focus. And Vampire Academy was a great concept but very clunky until the end.

The gag is that all the streaming shows they've invested so much in would be doing way better if they made them available on Hulu :skull:

I think post-consolidation it will be just Netflix, Hulu and Max, with others striking deals with each of them.

Yeah, honestly I'm SICK TO DEATH of every studio/network having it's own streaming service. Like cable/satellite subscriptions were better value at this point. Who the hell wants a different app for £10 a month for every ******* channel?

Sony owns Crackle. I don't even know how that's profitable for them. Why would Peacock sign with AppleTV. Peacock has 21 million subscribers and Apple TV has 25 million. Peacock has to sign with a company and offer their service for free like Apple does with its iphones. Like Samsung or something big.

Peacock is losing $3b a year

But Apple TV is operating at a $1b a year loss.

Its hilarious that studios thought streaming was the future and now we're seeing how underpaid everyone involved is :clown:

I think the problem is that they Blockbustered it. They jumped on board way too late.

who would have thought that each f*cking idiotic studio creating their own $15+ service would create an ecosystem akin to a shittier version of premium cable packages, and that consumers would thusly respond by selecting one to two services to adhere to (pretty much solely out of financial capability), leaving lesser known/late entry competitors losing revenue !

”losing billions” ijbol. cut the f*cking executive salaries then, they certainly not losing income presently

I only ever used it for Bad Girls Club but they only had select seasons, I switched over to Tubi when I found out they have every season on there.

So my question to you all is this (and this is a genuine question that I'd love people's perspective on): If streaming services are struggling financially as much as they are, and traditional TV is also struggling for profitability, why is there so much support for better remuneration for writers, actors, etc. involved specifically in the creation of content for said streaming services and traditional TV?
