They’d do better under interscope

Lalisa should do group stuff under interscope and then take that chinese deal, release a big titted smash solo album & tour, and then marry that billionaire she’s dating and work when she feels like it. This is her karma for carrying that group for 7 years and refusing to press charges against that manager from YG that stole almost a million dollars from her. I love it!

BP already is under Interscope and theyre not doing SH*T for them

Girl I love you in the K-pop thread but you damn well KNOW its not Interscope holding them back, its YG. Interscope is only responsible for their distribution and whatever stateside promo YG allows them to do :deadbanana4:

All 4 of them are getting more money from 1 instagram post than 90% of k-pop idols get from comebacks, like why woud they want to keep doing silly dances for the toxic k-pop fandom? :rip:

Imagine being in Twice - they work all year, comeback after comeback, and get maybe 30% of what blackpink gurls are earning for doing nothing :gaycat6:

The ratio of work/results for Twice is horrifying. Regardless of how I feel about the quality of their work they have been back to back to back as individuals and as a group in both music, fashion, subunit work, touring, etc. its INSANE.

And Lisa probably still makes more from brand deals than what they earn as a group in a year its insane :deadbanana4:

no other company will give them those ridiculous budgets. YG spends soo much MONEY.mp3 in them

I'm sure they've been having long meetings cause they are literraly the biggest group in the world right now (since bts is inactive)

Any Western label worth their money would spend just as much if not more on them for visuals, its the ideas that I think are what makes YGs budget for BP so indispensable, I mean bedazzled tanks, exploding forts, its crazy! I mean, the way Republic has treated Ariana, Drake, Taylor, etc. in terms of concept and budget? They let them run free! Ariana's just creatively bankrupt as an artist her visuals are ass, Taylor just does whatever she does and makes amazing videos, and Drake's straight boy brain tries.

The thing is-  it would be impossible to make the same videos they are making now in USA. Labor and production costs in Korea are really low. Making how you like that in america would cost like 5-7 mln $ :rip:

Watch them drop Babymonster's debut MV on the same day if BP doesn't renew.

The way everyone originally said they had already renewed because there were concert dates lined up after the supposed expiration date :toofunny3:

It is a weird situation though. YG seems to have no real bargaining power here except for possible blackmail material (it's pretty standard k-pop company practise to try and ruin the reputations of groups who leave or are trying to leave so I def wouldn't put if past YG). But realistically BP are too powerful, both individually and as a group, to be affected by that kind of thing. So really YG has nothing except the promise of more of the same. So it all comes down to what the girls want.

They've talked in the past about wanting more songs but I would totally understand they were just fed up with the whole girl group thing at this point given all the hiatuses, followed by this awful touring schedule. They've BEEN a girl group. They've achieved unbelievable global success. And they did it w a few big hits and an otherwise subpar discography. It's hard to imagine them wanting to start doing more regular and intense promotions at this stage in their careers :katie:

Basically it wouldn't surprise me if they all went their separate ways but held on to the BP brand name w the promise of occasional group releases in the future. And even if YG won't give them the brand name, Lisa can just buy it w her billions :foxaylove2:

update: 1 week until the contracts expire, no renewal in sight

I want Lisa to become that international pop super star (not that she isnt already) but she is capable of so much more. I can actually see her smash in the West with a real good release.

Even if the girls leave and form their band again with a different name. They would still find success because they all have individual mega fandoms. Like us fans do not care if they are Blackpink or not. They can even be "Little Harmonies in your area" and still be super successful. Just leave that ******** company. The worst music label along with RCA and Blackground.

Rose to Interscope

tbh I hope they disband. They need time off. They look exhausted. Hopefully they can take a few years to themselves and then get back together or pursue other endeavors or whatever it is they end up doing.

there's still a week left. hold your horses, yg is giving the girls 10% equity stake each in the company as we speak :giraffe:

I'm not the biggest fan of their music but I really like their personalities so I hope they don't disappear or totally disband. :emofish:

I think that if they resign it will be a very chill contract that has them releasing and performing even less than right now.

- The person I am 1000% is most willing to leave is Jennie. She screams wanting to try and make it in the West (but in a very Rihanna'd just showing up to studio to sing final demos type way).

- Jisoo def most willing to stay, YG apparently has good acting connects and I see her transitioning to Korean film industry.

- Lisa obviously has most leverage. That Chinese label deal might be too good to pass up though. One reason I can see her signing a solo deal with YG is because without TEDDY, is there a Lisa? He is responsible for her entire bad *****'d aesthetic which is her selling point...
- Rosé is kinda the weird one to me. She doesn't have a lot going for her (no shade I love her) but she does seem most passionate about music. She might also pull a hypothetial Jennie and try to make in the Western market?

you just made me realize re-sign and resign have opposite meanings but are spelled exactly the same :rip:

but tea i agree with you regarding your predictions. jennie realized she's too good for YG years ago, there's no way in hell she's resigning without holding majority stake in the company or something :sistrens:

lisa can slay any hip hop demo. i see jisoo staying for your reasons mentioned. im unsure about rose, she hasn't proven anything for me yet

I would modify your predictions a bit.

- Jisoo 101% staying and moving to acting unless they all band up in a single, different label. Not much to say there.

- Jennie screams moving to the West and breaking it in Hollywood, she knows YG is beneath her at this point and her solo star power is bigger than even most top girlgroups/boygroups. She's going the Selena route probably. Doing TV, movies, fashion deals, makeup brands and the occasional mega banger. I can see her doing more US TV shows esp with ABC/HBO then doing more fashion deals and eventually releasing a writing camp'd banger album.

- Lisa is doing the same albeit she's probably the one most similar to Rihanna, not Jennie. She'll have a hand with concept, lewks and all that but the music will absolutely be writing camps. Idrc because she will devour any demo sent to her. If Republic bags her especially with Taylor becoming a self sustaining behemoth and Ariana being MIA in movies, they're gonna need a new MPG to push. Imagine her LOUD/GGGB era :jonny5:

- The one that'll have the hardest time to adapt is Rose. The struggle with her is that its clear her vision for herself conflicts with the opportunities provided to her. She's going to obviously be 3rd rung in terms of priority of signing with Western labels (after Jennie/Lisa) and given her 3 tracks under YG are full English, she clearly wants to be a Western artist. Meanwhile its clear Korea will adore and let her smash to heaven and beyond if she gives them a single boring coffeeshop ballad (which she's probably never doing). Her image and identity if she does sign off as a Western soloist will be harder to market than Jennie/Lisa and Korea will probably abandon her if she commits to full rebrand.
