Meh, I wish she would be doing something more upbeat! A club banger would solidify her and introduce her to global audiences.

this auntie music she and Chloe are doing is boring. They’re way too young to be this serious.

Halle decides to release a beautiful and powerful song, addressing all the hateful racism levelled against her over the past few years and ATRL complains they want a banger? What a surprise. :shakeno:

Are you serious right now? Way too serious? So are you implying that young black women should not be able to do any type of art that does not involve being overtly sexual and twerking all the time? It’s sad that that has become the standard for our women. Black women are discriminated against because of their race and gender, and you don’t think and uplifting anthem is appropriate? This woman, this black young woman was crucified for playing a beloved character not because she wasn’t fitting for the role, but because she was playing the role of a white woman who was cherished for her beauty and innocence and most of the world does not associate black women with these things.

You are entitled to your own opinion, but your opinion is very telling about how you perceive young black women. Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Patti Labelle only used their voices.

I’m saying take for example Beyoncé debut, the lead single was an absolute banger that could be played at clubs, cookouts, get together etc that’s how you get your name out there and get the GP interested in you as a singer. In the same project Beyoncé had the gorgeous “Dangerously in love part II” where she showed case her gorgeous voice, that song wasn’t even a single and it’s one of beyonces signature songs people went crazy when I saw her live and performed it. This Halle song will be fine for a deep cut but not to make it mainstream.

Let’s not take anything for example as Halle is her own artist. She shouldn’t be obligated to do anything for mainstream audiences as mainstream audiences did not support her. She should however pay tribute to the many black women like herself that have had to stand strong in the face of the discrimination they face everyday. Mainstream audiences is also synonymous with white audiences. Halle owes those people nothing.

Sorry but not every artist is the same and copy paste. We already have enough people making club bangers music. Halle is gonna follow her own path.

Maybe Halle doesn't wanna be like Beyonce

Artist x producer combos you're shocked haven't happened yet? - Base - ATRL

Angel is clearly Halo 2023

Halle I Am... x Chloe Sasha Fierce

Halle is clearly the singer-songwriter type who will likely mostly stick to midtempo grooves/bops and ballads. Don’t really see her doing Crazy In Loves, etc. That’s Chloe’s lane. Not saying there won’t be anything fun for the clubs but she’s not about to be churning out uptempo dance bops

And although I love the song now I’m still a bit confused on why Columbia greenlit this release to seemingly not promote it on all fronts. It’s giving buzz single. Idk

I will preface, that everyone has a right to their opinion, but what I don't get are the people calling it boring.  How?  The way the production slightly changes with each each verse and not to mention the buildup from verse, to prechorus (with harmonies), to chorus.  And then the bridge?????  i don't understand.  It's only with the "boring" comments.  If it's not your style, that's fine. But being a majority R&B fan, this hits, and grows with each listen.

Because anything below a certain bpm is automatically boring to certain people.

What’s with all the theatrics? It’s clearly a buzz single - a beautiful, moving song at that, one intended to address all the racism she experienced the past few years. It’s a powerful way to start a solo career.

A “banger” can come later. And when it does, I’m pretty sure Columbia will give it a hefty push (for those who is about the charts not art).

I’m praying this is a buzz single or cute side song for her fans.

This songs very stable on spotify. Needs a live performance!

A late night performance would be incredible! Since that’s not happening any time soon, they could shoot one like those VEVO ones
