imabadkid Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 (edited) I don't get why conservatives are so obsessed with SNL. Anyway, SNL isn't even usually on during this time of the year since it's off-season. The quality of the show isn't what was even 5 or 10 years ago but I still enjoy it. Invite some fans on a nice set, interview the artist that is a guest, do some fun games, Q&A and finish it with a performance. Fans will like this much more than these tired af SNL skits. They have already tried this, including again recently, and nobody cares or watches it.

Rotunda Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 At this point, saying SNL fell off years ago is a tradition almost as old as SNL itself. 1 1 1
orange22 Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 I don’t use it at all really but I think it’s cool they’ve been running for so long since something like this would probably never take off today Spoiler best days may be behind ha but it’s history!

Shows like that can’t survive on fanbases tuning in for one episode, and the GP aren’t interested in watching to see stars because if they want to see them they can look at their social media whenever they want. Most pop stars/celebs just don’t have the same audience pull for TV anymore, hence why award show ratings are terrible. The TRL format is dead in this day and age.
UnusualBoy Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 SNL can be a hit or miss and it's been like that for a while.
Sergi91 Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 I enjoyed watching SNL during the 2016/2020 primaries and general elections and during the Trump years. They are no longer funny.
mxoonlight Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 I’ve always found it interesting how coveted it is as a star vehicle for wannabe comedians because it lives or dies by its ensemble and I’ve never felt compelled to watch clips from the recent season.
liquiddiamonds Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 TV is dead unless it’s on demand. Even places like the gyms and some doctors’ office are starting to transmit tiktoks on their tv screens But SNL is an institution. The day is over it will be like a huge celebrity death for many.
Bethenny Frankel Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Pedro Pascal did a great job hosting recently, but I mainly use them for music performances tbh

SNL does not cater to bigots. this really isn't an indicator for anything, it's a clickbait article for right-wing pundits to run with, from an unreliable outlet that loves right-wing web traffic. next This! Funny or not, it always takes the summer off like every other network show.
Asscatchem Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 snl is corny white liberal humor the musical appearances though >>
eleganceislearned Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 Not surprised at Gen Z's indifference, but was surprised about the older demo being even more indifferent. It makes sense that the olds don't care about it anymore since they probably remember its heyday when it was actually kind of funny (the old Eddie Murphy skits still go off tbh). Also, it's so weird how they had Donald Trump host during his presidential campaign, yet they ran left leaning political skits.

Yeah SNL is basically a cornerstone of television at this point, as integral to television as late night shows or morning daytime talk shows The day SNL is cancelled will be very symbolic and infamous for television when it happens. Will pretty much mark the end of an era for TV.
Jaay Posted July 25, 2023 Posted July 25, 2023 It’s a profitable show so who cares about their poll? People commenting don’t understand how the entertainment industry works. There coukd be a poll like “Do you miss “insert show here”?” Most people would say no. If a show has enough viewers to make a profitable, it will keep going.
Unreachable101 Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 I like the weekend news segment and it introduced me to new music
Kern Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 SNL was actually amazing when Kristen Wig and Tina Fey etc were in it

Well they rebooted it BADLY. It was terrible, and it was nothing like TRL. They didn't even have a music countdown If they did it like old TRL was and still had a countdown, it would have been good. That mess they brought back was terrible, even I stopped watching.
JustHoran Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 And the show will come back and still have pretty good ratings. lmao The show is hit or miss, and sometimes is terrible but I'll still watch if someone good is hosting that I like.
