Taylor doesn't have monster hit like "Flowers" or "As It Was". Why?

Taylor Swift, American Sweetheart, is breaking records left & right. She has a lot of achievements, including Award for the Worst Dance Moves of 2023. Despite having hit after hit, she never had a song as big as "Flowers" or "As It Was". Why? Lack of talent? Mediocre music? Succeded only because high school nerds and gays buys her music, and GP doesn't care? Let's discuss.

It's true that she hasn't a hit of that level (she got close with SIO and BS) but looking at her it's very clear than she's more than fine without it

The truth is she is horrible with singles since 1989. It's her weak spot.

As It Was is #15 on Spotify WW after more than a year since its release. 

AH is 20 position below despite being less than a year old and Taylor having a massive moment with The Eras Tour.

 

AH is a smash but definitely not a mega smash like the songs mentioned by the OP and others like Blinding Lights, Levitating, etc.

Anti-Hero has left the TTH for a long time but Unholy still there says a lot, she, her team and her label doesn’t need go all out to push a single in long turn to become a “massive hits” cause she has lots of thing smashing at the same time, her career is not depends on one or few “hit” song

What is it with OTHs and their revisionism that 1989 didn't produce some of the biggest hits of 2014/15?

 

SIO and BS were absolutely massive on YouTube and had insane pure sales. The only reason they didn't smash on Spotify is because they literally weren't available there. They spent an eternity on the Hot 100.

I think Taylor is fine. Weeknd atleast had multiple hits with AH , comparing Harry and Miley to Taylor is funny but well 🤷
