smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 SOPHIE - BIPP Finally a mega bop. The production is sooo interesting, I love the bubble popping beat. I find it crazy how ahead of her time she was, like this weirdly feels so fresh? I think this stuff is a bit hard to get into at first listen but the more it progresses you pick up on all the little twists and turns and you get a lot out of it.
smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 re: that last song, forgot to mention - will likely get points, not sure where though yet, maybe middle of the top ten!
Auburn Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Jade Novah - Butterfly oooooh wait this is really pretty yas
smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Chase Icon - Like Me Waiiiit this is so fun. The beat is so cool, it has this hip house vibe. Her delivery is also really fun, idk not much to say (that's a first), will likely get a few points? Might depend on the rest of the list
smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Bridgit Mendler - Diving Was curious about this because I guess its a droplet she had that I didn't check out. Anyway the production is her usual ~wavy vibes which is nice, it kind of feels inspired by like a Nintendo game water level  I think the delivery does get kind of one note, its sort of a song that passes you by, but its nice anyway - pretty pleasant. Not sure if it'll get points, but I liked it enough!
Auburn Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 beabadoobee - 10:36 do I like it? yes will it get any points? maybe...
Auburn Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Grimes - Belly Of The Beat it's a Grimes song for sure
smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Nicki Minaj - Want Some More Haven't heard this before, I like it though. It's very reminiscent of Nicki's older style which I preferred! There's a lot more personality to this and yeah idk it's pretty cool. I feel like I'm saying this a lot but this could get points depending on the rest :cri:Â Â A lot of stuff so far has been like pleasant or funsy but I don't want to commit just yet!
smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Kaytranada ft. VanJess - Dysfunctional Wait... bop? This reminds me a little of Disclosure's Settle album, but obv with a Kaytranada twist. I like the production naturally, and VanJess' vocals add a smooth element to it. Will likely get some points I feel... cool discovery!
smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Kaytranada ft. HER - Intimidated Waiiiiit bop [2] this is actually even better lsjfjlsf. I feel like the production is even more interesting here. I really appreciate the way it strikes a balance between a deep house vibe and R&B elements. HER also sounds really good here, her whispery angel delivery adds another level of dreaminess. I guess it will be hard not to compare the two but atp I could see both getting points, this might just get a few more.
smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 hemlocke springs - girlfriend Genuinely one of the most catchy and fun songs from last year!! It feels like something an indie band would do in the 2000s but in the best way, like it has a new coat of fresh paint. Her delivery is super weird and quirky but I feel like its just the right amount of quirk without crossing over into annoying territory. Truly brimming with personality and backed by a really fun new wave hook, I love itttt  High on my list!!!Â
smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Fiona Apple - Hot Knife Honestly one of those songs that straight up commands your attention no matter what. The more I get into her the more I realize she is so much more than whatever FTBC was  Yeah I really like this, will be in the upper half of my list I think, super cool, super gripping, feels like an adventure
smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Nicki Minaj - All Things Go I thought I would hate this but its not that bad. It's interesting to see this emotional side of her... its very Nicki hiding her sadness behind her smile. But yeah emotionally its intriguing, a bit blah as a song but its nice. Â This comment probably tells you nothing its a fine song but im not so sure/convinced about it yet
Sanguine Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Fiona Apple - Hot Knife: SOTC Nicki Minaj - All Things Go: Yessss Summer Walker’d BOP RAYE - Black Mascara.: No Chase Icon - Call Your Mom: Her best song behind Nancy she ate that hard aespa - Thirsty: Am I the only one who thinks the melody is ripping off Touch My Body and Sorry Not Sorry? Anyways it ended both, we love you Aespa Kitty - Last Minute: Perfect song, cult classic Skylar Grey - Wreak Havoc: I don’t think so! Jade Novah - Butterfly: In one ear out the other but you might get a point ffff it was fine enough beabadoobee - 10:36: Ate no crumbs etc avenge Talk for me Grimes - Belly Of The Beat: Anything from Art Angels is a winner for me
smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 RAYE - Black Mascara. Idk I kind of like this! Escapism is obviously the big hit of the album but this is pretty cool to me, it's got a dark dance pop vibe to it. Lyrically and stylistically she's very Marina'd (take that as you will) but I find her a bit better, and I think this is pretty cool. I will hopefully give it a few points
smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Chase Icon - Call Your Mom Okay wait this beat  It's funny bc the last song was a "bop" but then once this started it felt like a new wave of energy :cri: I appreciate that for sureeee, super bop and yeah I think this is a bit better than her other song so this will definitely get points!! The beattttt, we love you electroclash we really do
smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 aespa - Thirsty R&B'd bop, it feels like a revisit to their song Lucid Dream but with some new stuff added to it. I like that they can pull off slower songs like this and it still feels pretty cool amid the sea of other kpop groups. My hyper pop revolutionary queens... this will be in my upper half easily!!
thecptz Posted September 1, 2023 Author Posted September 1, 2023 raye's album cover is HER SISTER and not raye herself.  @Alena @ATRL Username @Auburn @Bacardo Royale @Bicassie @Fruity @Future Lover @Galaxy @Julia Fox @K$Ellie @Lucky#17 @minho @Noah @Not Like The Movies @prézli @Psycho @Sanguine @Staryu @Technicolor @touya kinomoto @Ttoki @wish 1
thecptz Posted September 1, 2023 Author Posted September 1, 2023 anyways, this is what the sender wanted me to tell yall
smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Kitty - Last Minute What is this dreamy bop??? This is so cool, I wasn't sure what to expect based on the cover but I love this! I honestly thought this would be a hyper pop bop but it ended up being this housey, almost trance song? Very fun vibe, definitely getting a couple points - I need to check this album or ep out
smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Skyler Grey - Wreak Havoc It feels a bit like a descendants song
smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Jade Novah - Butterfly It's pleasant, there's an old school vibe to it kind of, it feels like a slow 90s R&B song. I think this would be nice in a throwback kind of way! I like her voice and the melody is dreamy. Unsure about where this would place for me but not bad
smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Beabadoobee - 10:36 Noise rock BANGER Â love it
smholiv Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Grimes - Belly of the Beat Not really one of my personal Art Angels picks but its pretty chill and still holds up kind of well. I think this might get a few points but I'm not in love with it or anything...
