she probably doesn't want to waste another opportunity like she did with TLT. It's nice to see her actually trying to have somewhat of a hit and that her team was ready to jump ship from Psychedelic Switch to Kollage once they saw the latter taking off.

Debuts with a 75 on Metacritic, three reviews so far are very positive but there is a quite mixed one from sputnikmusic that comes at her hard.

The Loveliest Time on Metacritic: 75

SPUTNIKMUSIC: Barbenheimer II: Carly Raephex Twin (Part Two)

She has announced that this is not a follow-up collection of B-sides, but a fully-fledged companion record. This is curious (read: outright unfortunate) because The Loveliest Time is the most B-sideular ‘album’ experience I’ve found in my paws so far this year: its consistency is gaseous, its stylistic hopscotch is even more erratic than that of its sister album, it is a product of the same sessions, and - most importantly - it contains a large chunk of the weakest Carly Rae Jepsen tracks to date. Oh no.

“Anything To Be With You”’s opening vocal hook is an instant dud that unfolds as a piteously diffuse reggae-pop test of patience, while “Aeroplanes”’ deadweight chorus and off-putting slurry of a muted steel pan-jam never so much as dream of (sorry) getting off the ground. Later, the closing pair rounds the record off with all the conviction of a wet sock: “Stadium Love”’s insufferably bland homage to too-starstruck-for-taste maximalism brings to mind every word that Taylor Swift forced us to swallow way back when she dropped 1989 (now there’s an album with great B-sides!), not least because it does its utmost to regurgitate the same hooks; closer “Weekend Love”’s flimsy arrangement and structural centre of gravity are so weak that its very existence is practically in jeopardy. B-side is too kind a label for these songs. They occupy a solid quarter of the album.

It’s hard (or rather naive) to pick holes in her concertedly wholesome slave-to-romance persona when it’s brought her such success as the pop star of choice for, among others, a broad cohort of very online men otherwise incapable of touching pop with a barge pole. It's testament both to the strength of her bangers and to her vocal charm that she's rendered however many reams' worth of obsequious POV date lyrics so frequently elating, and I am genuinely a huge admirer of how she's turned the veiled toxicity behind her naked lack of self-worth into a compelling source of pathos (sorry nerds, Max Landis was bang on the money here).

What an obnoxious reviewer.

Unfortunately, this sad l, pretentious and tasteless soul can’t see diamonds in the rough. They can’t fly aeroplanes, an ocean for her touch.

how do people get certified to be music critics when they don’t know anything about pop music ??

Finally someone with enough taste to understand that Ded A and B are phenomenal. I was so tempted to thumbs down every user who rented GODICATED SIDE B at the bottom of her list (above Kiss). Yous made me real sad for that.

(and honestly, I ******* LOVED TLnT, so that just means every album is amazing).

Dedicated is incredible. Like, dare I say it — IT IS UNDERRATED.

People kind of treat it as, like, a good CRJ album. No. It‘s terrific. It also has always felt like the only album that has a bit of an overarching story — finding infatuation and love and then it dissolving.

I doubt anything will become a hit, she clearly seems to enjoy Indie pop act who is loved by fans and music nerds her label does next to nothing in terms of push so idk what to say except if it becomes viral on TikTok or something,.

I just walked into my office and found the straights sharing Kollage between themselves. Organic hit incoming.

Now that NMF playlists updated, Kollage has a higher reach than Psychedelic Switch. I don't think it will become a mega hit either, but it is growing organically on TikTok and people seem to be resonating with it... we'll see.

I feel the same about After Last Night. I find myself randomly singing it all throughout the day- and Aeroplanes

I just think her label is so dumb for not pushing something that’s organically going viral. That’s how everyone gets a hit nowadays lol…they could have done it with The Loneliest Time song
