highwind44029 Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 I still don't particularly like ATBWY but I found myself singing "NEVER OVER NEVER NEVER OVER" suddenly. An irl biblionny moment if there ever was one. 1

Same thing here, I liked the whole song except the chorus at first listen but now it's stuck in my head and I'm stanning Hope the same thing happens with Aeroplanes and Weekend Love with time, until now those are the only ones that I'm still having a difficult time listening to 1
Gabriel Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 So is there an exclusive vinyl release or is it just the standard/clear version?

ShootingStar Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 weekend love should not have been a bonus track because it makes no sense at the end of the tracklist. trying to figure out where i'd place it in the sequence instead.

It could have been in the middle-end, with the 80s leaning tracks, but that would have interrupted the immaculate run from Shy Boy to Put It to the Rest. Kollage should be the closer IMO.

Kamil24 Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Psychedelic Switch sounds like an actual hit, can they make this happen? 1

Kern Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 (edited) https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/carly-rae-jepsen-the-loveliest-time/ Pitchfork review (7.4) Quote Buoyed by looping vocal samples and progressively massive French touch synths, standout track “Psychedelic Switch” is a glorious surrender to sensation. The strangest song by far is “After Last Night,” a glitchy piece of Rostam-produced baroque aughts pop in the vein of “Genie in a Bottle” that Jepsen transforms into a characteristic moment of starry-eyed romantic realization. Quote mid-tempo tracks like “Aeroplanes” and “Put It to Rest.” And while they’re perfectly serviceable songs—with some incredible drumming on the latter—their inclusion affirms that this is indeed a collection of outtakes rather than a concept album. The dusky Tame Impala-style guitar on “Kollage” and car-commercial-sized synth of “Stadium Love” likewise feel out of place. Edited August 2, 2023 by the70s

djcalpal Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 P4K coming in with the mid comprehension levels for pop masterpieces once again. I wish her labels would service Psychedelic Switch to radio. I honestly think she could have a late-summer smash. The album isn't even in the Top 100 on the UK midweek charts which is criminal - hopefully it makes an appearance when the Vinyl is released next month.
Edgy Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Like any Carly album, it takes me a couple of replays to enjoy her work. I felt like "The Loneliest Time" had more replay value. I only find myself revisiting "Shy Boy," "Psychedelic Switch," "So Right," "Come Over," and "Stadium Love." I'm glad and thankful it exists.
zasderfght Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 (edited) I came back to The Loveliest Time, and I certainly like it more on repeated listens. I still think Carly's made far superior albums, but I'll rank her albums/EPs (excluding her "Tug of War" album, which I have yet to listen to): 1. Emotion Side B 2. Emotion 3. Dedicated 4. Dedicated Side B 5. The Loveliest Time 6. The Loneliest Time 7. Kiss Edited August 2, 2023 by zasderfght
mystery Posted August 2, 2023 Author Posted August 2, 2023 I wonder if this will get more reviews in the coming days, right now there are only five that count for Metacritic.
motomami Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Can't stop replaying this. The run of Shy Boy/Kollage/Shadow/Psychedelic Switch/So Right/Come Over/Put It To Rest is genius, and for sure my favorite sequencing on any of her work. I'm shocked that more aren't receiving this better, as it already is one of my favorite offerings from her 1. Emotion 2. Dedicated 3. The Loveliest Time 4. Emotion Side B 5. The Loneliest Time 6. Kiss 7. Dedicated Side B 1
velocity Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 was very excited for this but only kamikaze and stadium love clicked with me
CosTaSsSs Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Would love if this was the single order of this album, 1. Shy Boy 2. Kamikaze 3. Kollage 4. Psychedelic Switch
Alex Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 1. Emotion 2. The Loveliest Time 3. Emotion Side B 4. The Loneliest Time 5. Dedicated 6. Kiss 7. Dedicated Side B
Psycho Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 1. Emotion 2. Emotion Side B 3. The Loneliest Time 4. Dedicated 5. The Loveliest Time 6. Kiss 7. Dedicated Side B

Surrender My Heart Western Wind Bends Bad Thing Twice The Loneliest Time Anxious Keep Away Kamikaze After Last Night Kollege Psychedelic Switch Put It to Rest are all 10/10.
