after a few listens i definitely prefer the loneliest time but this is more consistent and has more interesting production

I think that her work ethic is really what makes the difference when it comes to how consistent her records are. She always writes literally hundreds of songs for each record she makes, and she always talked about how picky she is when it comes to narrow them down and put together a tracklist.

OK after 10 days of listening to this non-stop I'm ready to amend my CRJ album rankings - and this coming from someone who grew up in Canada / has been a fan since 2007 and loves everything she has released:

EMOTION > DEDICATED > CURIOSITY EP > THE LOVELIEST TIME > EMOTION SIDE B > THE LONELIEST TIME > TUG OF WAR > KISS > DEDICATED SIDE B

First Time is literally one of the most forgettable songs in her entire discog. :deadbanana2:

First Time is one of my favorite CRJ bops. It’s so underrated in her fandom. The CLASSIC early-Madonna vibe — we just don’t get music made like that anymore.

First Time is the epitome of what set her apart from the rest — just amazing glitzy, glittery, high-quality Mall Pop.

If anything, I'd say Psychedelic Switch is the most obvious choice on the album.

Kollage was the most obvious Pitchfork choice, I meant it that way.

The way so many people are leaving Tug of War out of their album rankings is sending me a bit :deadbanana2:

Spoiler

I've never listened, maybe I should

My god Kamikaze just ascendeddd me. I listened to PS first and then Kamikaze to compare the boppiest and idk…Kamikaze just moved me in the soul. I think I like that it’s a darker/sadder theme with a rushing dance beat- the juxtaposition of feelings is what gets me…where as PS is just pure joy !

and the fact that she says “the ending’s real clear and it won’t take us HIGHER” when the song is basically the opposite side of Higher (similar sonically but darker and void of joy) !!:msmarvel: The absolute genius she is!

I'm curious as to how you guys number Carly's albums: do you count every side b as a separate album (making Loveliest CRJ8) or do you group A-Side with B-Side (so TLTx2 is CRJ5)?

Why would you do that? :rip:

Officially only Emotion Side B is not counted as an album, it is an ep. Dedicated Side B and The Loveliest Time are CRJ5 and CRJ7.

I mean I just don't even think about the numbering conventions with her, she has true eras, like the Emotion era, Dedicated era, etc

all of her music is just amazing. she just gets it.

This albums makes me feel like i'm drunk or buzzed running around some bougie fancy party.
