It feels like a missed opportunity not having Tove Lo on Kamikaze but it’s a great song nonetheless.

Perhaps Miss Onika can do her a solid like she did with Tonight I'm Getting Over You. :gaycat2:

First of all, I love the album I'm getting it tattooed :alexz3: I just said they do sound like songs that didn't make it onto Loneliest to me... and that's ok. If you don't want to call them leftovers it's fine it's not like I meant it negatively

No I don’t care either way what they’re called- I’m just saying Carly herself said they weren’t leftovers and that she had the Loneliest/Loveliest idea when she was compiling the first album

Kamikaze and Psychedelic Switch are just too good.

Shes said how the “side b” albums are where she lets her more experimental side and freak flag fly. I wish she’d do that more often, because I think I like this project more than the predecessor

It is still a bit early to declare but I really think this might be my favorite project by her ever. Which is SHOCKING to me after not really caring for almost all of The Loneliest Time. After a day of listening though it has not slowed and actually has grown on me. I love all of her releases too except The Loneliest Time (though it still does have a few gems!) and Tug of War. Currently I think I would go:

The Loveliest Time > Dedicated > Emotion > Dedicated Side B > Kiss > Emotion Side B > The Loneliest Time > Tug of War

On my initial listen & it’s already better than the loneliest time :clap3:

opener track is a dud though, I’m trying to not process the never over part as grating

Wow she’s truly in her flop eras

Only have listened fully once but wasn’t impressed until Psychadelic Switch. That’s when the songs started to finally get good

will relisten and hopefully like it more

Easily her best album since Emotion. I assume The Loneliest Time is probably the first time she went into album sessions knowing a second/b-side album was in the plans for definite and allowed her to curate a really cohesive album from the start of the sessions and it SHOWS. The soundscape is so realised and she really evokes the idea of "lovely" so well. Way better than the Loneliest Time, and that album was pretty solid imo. I feel like she feels the most free when she doesn't have to think about "singles" or a "rollout". It's honestly been such a long time since an album has felt so realised for me, to me she's on the level of Robyn at this point.

Her talent is on another level, and she's really flexing her skills here. MOTHER! :hippo:

I think this is her best album since Emotions. SO good and sonically interesting and mature

Pretty sure it's going to click at some point later, I like it, but I'm not inclined to replay it much yet.

Psychedelic Switch is phenomenal and I'm glad Pitchfork noticed it instead of going for the most obvious choice

Emotion > Dedicated > The Loveliest Time > The Loneliest Time > Emotion Side B > Kiss > Dedicated Side B > Tug of War

Seeing a lot of Loneliest Time shade here and while I do think it had too many weak songs on it, there were a number of highlights for me like Talking To Yourself, Bad Thing Twice, Surrender Your Heart, Western Wind, Bends, etc... if she had swapped some of the weaker midtempos on it for the more experimental stuff here, I think that could've rivaled at least Dedicated, but I get that conceptually those songs are all pretty different.

I agree that The Loneliest Time slander is too much, in fact it is probably my favourite Carly album after this. It just feels like home. Listened to it the other day during a flight and I must say it is the perfect album to listen to in that setting. Just being surrounded by clouds while hearing songs like Western Wind, Keep Away, Bends or Go Find Yourself or Whatever was transcendent.

After a few listen , Kamikaze is the obvious pop gem here.

Although, I would've done more with the outro. The "Tonight, I need to come crash into your way, way, way" Hook is too good to be wasted on 1 repetition and then end the song.... The outro should've acted like a huge post chorus with that hook repeated.

Psychedelic Switch is Top 2, for sure, but Anything to Be with You is Top 1. :clap3:

Girl. Get real. emotion B has like 0 skips or luls. Emotion Side A is full of filler. I’m sorry that the general public and some fans truly think it’s her best album when in reality it has like a handful of amazing so bf a, a handful of good songs, and the rest are songs I barely listen to.

Higher, Cry, Roses and Fever are great. The rest are all average.

Listened to the album this morning not really expecting anything spectacular, but was SUPER impressed. :chick2: Wasn't expecting it to have such a raw sound. I can't wait to listen again tonight!

can't believe Dedicated finally leaked :jonny: but it's a different demo

The way she's basically released 3 double albums and all of them are skipless

EMOTION > The Loveliest Time = Dedicated Side B > EMOTION SIDE B > The Loneliest Time > Dedicated > Kiss > Tug of War

top 5

Psychedelic Switch

Kamikaze

After Last Night

Shadow

Come Over

Such a fan of this more mature sophisticated pop direction she's taken, such a great natural progression for her :jonny5:  Might be a contender for best release of the year for me alongside Desire & the record
