Midnightsun Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 After Last Night is hands down my favorite. The album flows so well. I love her!
every1blinks Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 After Last Night, Shadow, and Come Over is the trinity, I fear What did we do to be contemporaries with Miss Jep??

"Kollage" has hints of "Playground Love" by Air and "Careless Whisper" by George Michael. Really impressive. Hope she scores well with critics. Those are spot on songs to compare it to WOW I was just listening to it and adoring how ominous and cryptic it sounded and tried to think what it reminded me of 2
djcalpal Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 The way Psychedelic Switch could fit perfectly on Kelis' Flesh Tone - it's taking me back to 2010 in the most beautiful way possible. 2

The Loneliest Time had a few cute tracks. Same with this one. But I'd be lying if I said I haven't been disappointed for years. If Dedicated Side B was a chore to get through, I genuinely feel sorry for the taste you have. And that’s not being shady, but that album is so damn good I just feel sorry you don’t hear it the same way I do. Imagine hearing Felt This Way and Stay Away back to back and not feeling your cells individually orgasm one at a time? Couldn’t be me, I fear. 6
Antisocialites Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 this is her most eclectic and diverse-sounding album to date. Psychedelic Switch and Put It to Rest are career highlights 2
TrueBlood Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Cum Over is THAT specific Carly song (she has one for each album) that rapes my brain for a couple of weeks repeatedly with no mercy, following the footsteps of Shooting Star, Summer Love, Everything He Needs, Body Language and ofc Emotion. 1
touch Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 The album feels like a celebration and I feel like it contains some of her best songs (Psychedelic Switch, Kollage) in her discography. It's definitely a step up from The Loneliest Time (for me), and maybe her best album since EMOTION? 1
Daft Dweeb Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 I love the context behind why she called this project The Loveliest Time. And I equally love its predecessor The Loneliest Time. Resonates with me because opening up to the world after getting so used to the pandemic and isolation is such a hard thing for me to overcome, but I'm working on it! I already love this. My initial top 3 would be Kamikaze - Kollage - Shadow. IDK I just can't not be ride or die when it comes to her because e•mo•tion and dedicated both tided me through some crazy years and god I have so many core memories attached to those records. My ultimate dream Carly album would have to be curated by Patrik Berger - Dev Hynes - Rostam - Ariel Rechtshaid ONLY. No more, no less. Those folks seem to challenge her and push her out of her boundaries. I love it when she veers away from her usual sound. Congrats on yet another great project, Carly! 1

It’s a shame both the beginning and the ending of the record is a bit more lukewarm for her standards, which means still very good basically but not as mindblowing as the rest of the album.

Don't do Kamikaze like that 1
The7thStranger Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 THIS is the album I wanted The Loneliest Time to be. She's so deep in the cut that she cannot possibly mess up. 1
crossbonezolo Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 For me Loneliest still feels miles better as this really feels like a collection of leftovers. That said, Carly's leftovers are always 10/10's so this is an amazing LP anyway. For me it's Emotion = Side B > Loneliest > Loveliest > Dedicated > DSB. 2
Scandalous Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 this grew on me FAST and i wonder if i’ll end up liking it more than Loneliest…it’s definitely a more consistent project again my biggest complaint is the tracklist order is jarring and it puts all the heavy hitters in the first half - the crossword order would’ve flowed better and Kollage makes such a good closing track, it feels so weird after shyboy 1

HausofNick Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Her work ethic and ability to create nothing but QUALITY pop music is something that needs to be studied. INSANE level of quality on this album. She's truly a master of pop.
Sadie Saxton Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Halfway through my first listen (on Shy Boy) currently and the production on this is so funk almost so far . It’s like she went back to the studio and wanted to make a 70’s/80’s inspired sister for Emotion 1
cockatoo Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 I don't think it's a case of liking everything she puts out really. I only really got into her after the Loneliest Time dropped and it's really perfect mature pop in my opinion. Listening to her discography it's so clear how much she's improved and really found her sound. She's just very consistent and can be relied upon to write catchy fun pop music. 1

As I said already, they're great leftovers anyway. It's just that it shows like the thought behind this was "I have 13 more amazing tracks so let's put them out" rather than "let's make an album", that's why I said it sounds like a leftovers collection. Still, most pop girls wish they had albums that sounded this great Edited July 28, 2023 by crossbonezolo 1
