I heard he reworked Eternal Summer (correct me if I'm wrong on that) but I think the last time she released one of his songs was Emotion I'd be curious to know what sorta sounds they'd make together now I know what you mean though, Patrik was so influential in her writing and pushing her towards Dedicated instead of disco and opening her up to best experimental songs. I would really like just one album with a limited number of producers, I know she's not the type of artist who wants to deliver a "body of work" but she could truly release something of an opus (like a 'folklore' moment for her) if she keeps leaning into indie and alternative styles like she has between both TLT albums I don't think so, but it's not like anything is stopping her from reconnecting. He did rework Eternal Summer with her (he actually did the original in 2014 as well), but that was in like 2018? But at that time they did a few tracks including Heartbeat which is on Dedicated Side B! Both All That and Heartbeat nail the dreamy soundscape that's why I threw him in the mix. It's not like she is harming her output or artistry by putting what she is putting, but years are passing and it's starting to feel like she's not craving to explore her full potential. Kollage shows how mesmerizing of a songwriter she is and plenty of other examples in her discography prove she is also a great storyteller, she could totally pull her folklore and I'd be fine with waiting even ~3 years for the next project if she was to delvier that. 3

I totally forgot about Heartbeat lmfao, but you're right. I was thinking more about When I Needed You rather than All That but yeah I think that song was really the blueprint. I think Carly is happy to stay in her current lane of exploring different types of pop and making albums inspired by all different places and I'm fine with that because she delivers and constantly outdoes herself but she's sitting on the potential to do something potentially groundbreaking 1
Aimen Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 The album is good but i prefer the loneliest time it was more instant 1
djcalpal Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 Psychedelic Switch has CRACK in it. This woman's discography is a treasure trove of hits. 2
Alex Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 I love both acts of TLT, it might just be her strongest bodies of work for me, or at least matching Emotion Side A/B which is incredibly difficult to do in the first place. 2
NordicGuy Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 I'm more of a casual Carly listener. This Love Isn't Crazy and The Loneliest Time are among my favorite pop songs of the decade so far but overall her style doesn't interest me too much. So far Dedicated Side B has been my favorite album of hers but this new one could very well challenge that. I enjoy every song a lot and it's a very easy listen. My highlights after a couple of listens are Kollage, Put It To Rest (both are some of her best songs ever, so lush, dreamy and murky), Kamikaze, Shy Boy, Stadium Love and Come Over. I also really like Anything To Be With You as an opener, it sounds so celebratory and lively. I'm also not hearing what yall hear with Psychedelic Switch. It's nice and has a catchy beat but at least right now the melody doesn't do anything for me. Same goes for So Right and After Last Night. I don't dislike them at all. They might just need some time to grow. Overall a great album with some very nice experimentation and artistic growth. 1
campelo Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 the percussion in put it to rest its the chef's kiss moment of the song 2

My top 3 rn is So Right, Psychedelic Switch, and Kamikaze I think! 1

She was on another spiritual level when she was recording this song 1
James_XL Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 (edited) I couldn't care less about The Loneliest Time (apart from Talking To Yourself & Surrender) but this is superb, the production on Put It To Rest, Come Over & After Last Night is just wow. Everything flows so well too. Edited July 21, 2023 by James_XL
Moonlightbae Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 Kamikaze, Psychedelic Switch and So Right were my faves on first listen
alfonso12 Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 This is great, probably her most mature album ever. If it grows on me it could be her best since Emotion. 1
Scandalous Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 the tracklist should’ve been in the order of the crossword puzzle tbh, it flows much better
TrashMagiq Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 Do we know which songs were recorded for The Loneliest Time and which are new?
teenagecraze Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 (edited) this is an amazing body of work, her best since emotion Edited July 22, 2023 by teenagecraze
pinkbowvintage Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Still prefer the "darker" sound of her previous album, but this has some gems for sure and feels like a grower. So Right is AMAZING.
