Margaux Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 billie was a fad and can’t sing. the gp see thru her with the release of another mid album with only 2 listenable songs 1 2 3
Digitalism Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Have you heard all the horrible HTE singles? As I've been saying since before HTE release she will conitinue to sell less and less on each release but she will have a hardcore fan base. A Gaga/Avril type of career

Sawk Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Billie went in a more alternative and artisté direction for HTE and right now some people might not see the benefit of that, but she most definitely made the right choice. Instead of pandering to the Gen Z emo-tryhards like she did during her debut, she has cultivated a more diverse pool of fans with the sophisticated Happier Than Ever and the longevity speaks VOLUMES about the success. I can attest to this, I was an OBH during her debut ep and album era, but HTE made me a STAN and I know of plenty of other cases like this. Olivia is going in a safer direction by not really changing much about what made her famous in the first place, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing, just people might get tired eventually if she doesn’t switch it up for the next release. 1
Riverbank Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 The entire HTE rollout was a mess. The single choices were bad. My Future should've never been released as a single, let alone the lead She could've had an easy #1 if her team released the title track instead, but I'm glad Interscope took notes and went ahead with Vampire for Olivia's lead, which is basically a HTE carbon copy. 1
JoJo Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Billie alienated some of her younger fans who wanted her to keep her WWAFA aesthetic, and she chose the wrong singles. It also wasn’t clear when the HTE era actually started since it seemed like My Future and TIA were droplets at the time. Guts has a much better rollout so far.
Blue Jeans Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Keep it mainstream pop but switch it up a bit. It’s a safer sound
dirrtydiana Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 You’re using a chart that favors front loading first week streams to get a #1 as a reason to say Billie failed at something? Billie is literally the biggest new girl since what? Gaga? where was this chicks Coachella headline? Where is her granny sweap? billie has way more actual hits. And technically hte is her third effort and her bad guy was not the lead of its album and barely hit #1
sourprint Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 olivia will have way more successful eras than billie in the long run lmao. maybe not reach a celebrity status as high as billie since girlies been around since 2016 so olivias fresher, but i CAN SEE guts and the guts tour being way more successful than its happier than ever counterpart
sourprint Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 just give it up already. so far vampire is doing much better than any hte single in its early phase. give the props to her at least
stjosephprey4us Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 HTE was during moreso the height of the pandemic, and the single rollout was legitimately tragic
Bloodflowers. Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Both still more successful than most ATRL has-been faves
stjosephprey4us Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Had Billie waited until the vaccines had dropped and been heavily used at least before dropping the first single (and NTTD actually released around the movie) and her single rollout been: 1. NDA as promo single to generate buzz maybe in July - Sept 2021 2. Oxytocin with album preorder - November 2021 3. Happier Than Ever - January 2022 4. Therefore I Am - March 2022 with album release and all had music videos, the era would’ve gone very different. My future, Your Power, Lost Cause, the long wait after NTTD and other factors completely killed her hype

Olivia is about to have a very successful sophomore album and the second album lead is debuting at #1 while Billie failed to do so during her second era though arguably HTE is still a success. What went right for Olivia and what went wrong for Billie? Discuss. Billie has never been a single artist while Olivia had huge success with her singles right from the start. Plus, isn't it too soon to say anything? OT: I think Olivia plays a safer cards while Bille took a risk plus strings of unsuccessful droplet singles hurt her more than help

A Gaga/Avril type of career As if follow Gaga and AVril's footsteps are bad since both have become legacy acts Plus, let's see if Olivia can tops her first album's sales . I mean, seriously, Taylor Swift is the only one who can manage to be bigger with each album. 90% artists drop in sales with each album. That's called normal
CandleGuy Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 2 hours ago, MALAMENTE said: TIA also feels more like a Fall Asleep single than a HTE one; black and green hair and everything. So it is weird that she tucked it on HTE The single rollout was extremely messy. Everything I Wanted, Your Future, and Therefore I Am were all marketed as droplets at the time of release. Your Power was marketed as the lead single. Then it flopped hard, so they scrambled and retroactively made My Future the lead single and TIA the second single. Meanwhile, Everything I Wanted was not included despite being the biggest smash of all of them and fitting the best into the album's theme and sound. When Your Power flopped she started rapid firing singles and none of them stuck until the HTE title track saved the album (which should have been the second single to EIW being the lead). Long story short, Billie is what happens when the artist has too much creative control. Olivia clearly has a huge team guiding her and as a result, Vampire is a perfectly executed sophomore album lead single. 1
Big Bad Wolf Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Billie chose the music, not the bling. Lana stan after all

popularmoonlight Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 Billie had a messy roll out but HTE was still a smash, and the album itself was also a success in the long run. Im feeling Olivia will have a huge lead single, but then not have other hit songs coming of the album (like ESV).
