Randomly the noms I'm most excited about were Jason Isbell's in Americana, especially KING OF OKLAHOMA and Cast Iron Skillet being the best songs on that album and being the two songs nominated. Hope he sweeps. King of Oklahoma is indeed splendid song. 1
slw84 Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Does anyone have the grand total for 2 or 3 or more?

My only "complain" is that SZA is the most nominated person, i'm sure we've all remember what happened to Rihanna in 2017 and SZA herself in 2018. She can't lose everything again That’s not happening again. She’s taking atleast two/three Grammys progressive r&b album r&b performance r&b song Edited November 11, 2023 by lovely88 2
Eric. Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Best Pop Dance Recording is off to a terrible start when two of the slots are wasted on boring David Guetta songs that are just lazy rehashes of older songs. "Strong" and "Miracle" are basically the same song, so I guess the point of the category is to make sure the more alternative/indie producers have a shot at winning a Grammy when the mainstream pop singers have a category of their own for their dance/electronic tracks. If you look at the history of Best Dance/Electronic Recording, that mostly what happened. That being said, I hope Troye and Disclosure win. the record is my favorite for AOTY, but I feel SOS is gonna win instead.
honestopinion Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 (edited) Loved the nominations and how Miley gagged everyone (including me) with AOTY nom but i had this album on repeat all summer so Island, Rose Colored Lenses and Violet Chemistry alone is the reason i would give her AOTY nom. Pure perfection. And Thousand Miles is about to give Miley her first grammys lol. Still thinking Anti Hero will win pop solo performance and Thousand Miles with Brandi Carlile will win pop duo, and Flowers will win ROTY Edited November 12, 2023 by honestopinion 1

réveuse Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 SZA needs to win AOTY. It's long overdue, especially given that the last time a black woman won AOTY was in 1999! Before the new millennium, before the 2000s, even before some of you were born, before 9/11! Do you guys know how long that is? 3
camfuckingrockwell Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 (edited) SZA is in a different position than she was with CTRL. We haven’t had a big female R&B album/era (commercially) like SOS in years . She should be in position to sweep R&B categories easily. Kill Bill and Snooze are impressive and big hits. Snooze is in the Top 3 after charting for nearly a year. She could definitely win Record of the Year also. The last 2 winners in that category have been R&B/Hip Hop influenced. She definitely has the appeal for Pop, Rap/Hip Hop and R&B votes. Big eras like SOS in R&B tend to sweep that field. There are multiple examples of that. Kill Bill is a crossover pop hit while Snooze is the R&B based one. She got in the Rap Field with Low which is impressive. Id say she has Progressive R&B Album, R&B Song, R&B Performance LOCKED. Arguably Traditional R&B Performance too. Victoria Monét should be able to skate through a BNA & R&B Album win easily too. Edited November 12, 2023 by camfuckingrockwell 1
Bad_vocal_technique Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Sza’s álbum as a whole is not deserving of AOTY. 3
watermelonshake Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 So happy for SZA and Lana! Hope they both take home something! So happy to see Alvvays with a nomination for an amazing song. I love Lana but in the alt performance category I am 100% rooting for them to take it, even if I think it's a long shot.

How does the Grammy voting system work? Aren't the people who vote for nominees the same ones who vote for the winners?

Selfloathingpoet Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 (edited) GOLDERBY voting says Taylor and Miley are going to be the winners of the main categories; I like them both, but I think neither of their albums really deserves a Grammy, the only thing that is making the Midnights era memorable is the fact that it's a mix of all her eras and as for Miley ESV is a pretty MID album. Lana is my favourite singer, but I am 100% impartial when I say that A&W should win SOTY. According to the same Grammy website that award is given to the song with the best lyrics and if you look at the nominees A&W really stands out and by far. Edited December 8, 2023 by Selfloathingpoet
