rightfully snubbed

Victoria Monet is the new frontrunner for Best New Artist. She has huge support, more than Ice Spice who only was nominated thanks to her collaborations, but her own album got nothing

SZA deserved a nom in Pop Solo especially since the Doja song is supposed to be rap :rip:

Hope she sweeps. Her chances at AOTY are good imo… the pop/alternative albums will split the vote and Jon Batiste just won recently

Taylor needs to win at least SOTY cause it’s a crime that she hasn’t won that yet.

I can’t see Midnights winning AOTY with competition like this. There’s too much voter overlap. SOS is huge, like Midnights, so it’ll have tons of support from the “success stan” voters. Lana and Boygenius will get support from songwriters and the indie/alt crowd that voted for Folklore. ESV and GUTS will split the pop vote (and GUTS will likely have more support from the rock crowd too).

It's nominated for Best Country Song (but it doesn't count for Morgan because he isn't credited as a songwriter)

Midnights is bigger than sos tho Taylor is getting pop crowd alt crowd and some country crowd too.  Even tho Midnights is not indie/country some of them will support by association.

I wouldn't count Noah Kahan out, his album is doing big streaming numbers and he definitely has the indie/alt votes. I would be fine with either since they're both incredible songwriters:clap3:

it's incredible how some, while doing the bare minimum with the most mediocre output, keep on getting as many if not more nominations than actual artists that are actually putting the work and releasing quality...

it’s ok just say Taylor

OT : Queen of alt sweep :clap3: so proud of Lana

As an aside, the Jon Batiste nominations are a little confusing for me. I get that he’s a recent AOTY winner, but his album made next to no noise and got relatively mediocre reviews (including a 5.6 from Pitchfork). I tried to listen to some of it and it’s all just inoffensive and fine. I understand that he seems to be well-liked and respected in the industry, but when the music doesn’t appear to be all there…

Yeah he is one of those who are neither acclaimed/influential nor successful but is liked in the industry. Probably has some connections too. We see them almost every year.
