Donquizote Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 They keep lowering prediction for Mufasa Not going down from 70M yesterday to 63M today Sonic prediction keeps increasing. Not bad for movie that's currently being played in less than 3700 theaters 1
Gorjesspazze9 Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Congrats to Wicked for Surpassing 600M today! 1
poki Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 https://variety.com/2024/film/box-office/holidays-box-office-mufasa-sonic-3-100-million-1236261080/ $112m USD domestic now! Box Office Mojo is a bit out of date but international has grossed $1.8 USD so far. https://www.boxofficemojo.com/releasegroup/gr596464133/ Better stats than Sonic 2 so far, Hope we pass $500m world wide so we can say each movie did $100m more than the previous one. https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl1363641089/?ref_=bo_rl_tab#tabs 1
poki Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Also I would like to point out Sonic 3 Blu-Ray / Steelbook is up for pre-order since Christmas, #1 / #8 on Amazon Blu-Ray categories and the movie still does better than Sonic 2's domestic daily.
Lovett Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Wonder if it'll stop being "Beyoncé's Mufasa" now. 4
Eternium Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Damn, they HAVE to delay the VOD release. While it won't hurt too much, Wicked is literally doing unheard of business. My group for my Monday viewing went from 9 to 17 people because everyone I told wants to go see it again and now there are 20+ other people in the theater, too, despite it being a really weird time. I've never seen a holdover like this before 1

Space Cowboy Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 We love a #1 movie in america AND #1 movie in the world two weeks in a row 1
Gorjesspazze9 Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 So Wicked looking to end around $700M-750M. Amazing run. 1
BNF91 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 (edited) Sources suggest Mufasa has retaken #1 on Sunday domestically with actuals. With the weekend so close, it could potentially also mean #1 this weekend. Either way, it is seeing great holiday holds/boosts both domestic and internationally and should be headed for $630-700M+ WW. A proper Lion King 2 seems imminent. Sonic also doing well, with international debuts up from Sonic 2. That -37% 2nd wknd domestic hold does suggest some fan front loading from the debut. But plenty of gas still in the tank and $200-250M domestic is certain. WW probably $500-550M. No words for Wicked, absolutely stellar domestic performance. Still a chance to pass Dune 2 globally, as well as $500M domestic. Moana 2 recovering a bit this holiday after some abysmal post-debut legs. $500M+ domestic should have been locked from such a gigantic Thanksgiving debut. Now $440-450M seems like the ceiling. But it should still crawl past $1B WW in a few weeks. Nosferatu smashing it with a $40M 5-day and already becoming Robert Eggers' biggest domestic grosser in just 5 days. Well deserved for the new auteur. Gladiator 2 reaping the benefits of being the sole adult actioner this holiday, but with that astronomical $250M budget it has a long way to go before breaking even. This will be a flop and quite frankly I expected far more than $450-475M WW from this sequel (if only it had been actually good). Edited December 30, 2024 by BNF91
Gorjesspazze9 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Marvel has had a movie in the top 5 grossing every single year they released since endgame. @Broken 1 1

Da Vinci Posted Wednesday at 07:05 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:05 PM So, 2025's trinity: Avatar 3 > Jurassic idk the number > Wicked 2? Although I'm pretty sure something else could be in the place of W2
Gorjesspazze9 Posted Wednesday at 09:30 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:30 PM Another Billi… Disney really wasn't joking when they said they coming back hard in 2024. need the Disney Adults to buy tickets for F4 1

poki Posted Thursday at 03:49 PM Posted Thursday at 03:49 PM This site forecasts $18m-$22m for Sonic and $16m-$20m for Mufasa this weekend. https://www.boxofficepro.com/weekend-preview-sonic-3-and-mufasa-face-off-in-third-frames/
BNF91 Posted Thursday at 09:49 PM Posted Thursday at 09:49 PM While it will be another tossup, I'd wager that Mufasa takes #1 this coming weekend after posting some strong weekdays since Monday. New Year's Day Mufasa- $10.37M Sonic- $8.95M It will be close though, once again! Mufasa should be around $440-460M+ WW by Sunday and Sonic $300-325M. Can't remember last time two films ran so close to one another in the dailies for this long though. Exciting. 1
