I disagree.

DCs brand is just clearly so toxic right now, and audiences don’t trust them. “It’ll all get better with time” is true. The audience needs a break and Legacy needs to be an A+ movie.

The Suicide Squad was a critical hit, that didn’t stop DC from flopping nonstop. You’re vastly underestimating how BAD it is for them with “the Flash”. The Flash is legit one of the biggest box office flops EVER

You're not understanding what I'm saying. The "DC brand" is not toxic, in and of itself. That is why they're still having successes outside of the DCEU. The issue with films like Blue Beetle is that Warner Bros. is practically just ignoring the film. It had virtually no actual marketing compared to the earlier films in the DCEU—up to 2018's Aquaman. The issue with DC Comics on film is Warner Bros. lack of direction, with overall regime changes, in the midst of also changing directions of films while they're shooting.

I'm not underestimating anything. We, DC Comics fans, know how much of a bomb The Flash is. We were all expecting it before it even released. The Flash largely sucked; I didn't even care that much for it, or its story. But it's ultimately a victim of Warner Bros. It flopping came as no surprise; that film had been pushed back and delayed so many times with multiple directors being attached to it. The Flash should have been one of DC's top films, having a completely blank slate to work with in correcting the direction of the DCEU. The issue isn't DC, Blue Beetle or The Flash—it's solely Warner Bros. and their internal chaos.

I think one of the problems is the overexposure and oversaturation of superhero movies in general. Seems like we get at least one new superhero movie every month and they all pretty much follow the same formula. Maybe the GP has finally had enough. :lakitu:

I mean Gunn’s Legacy is supposed to come out in a year and a half:deadbanana4: in 4 months it will already be 2024. I’m shocked that they are just gonna move into a new universe with barely a year break from this travesty universe.

I don’t think Superman is gonna be big at all either. Especially with how much everyone is already acting like Superhero movies are over. 😭 (they definitely aren’t, but this thread is convinced they are)

I’m not entirely convinced the GP is over superhero movies, but I am convinced that if the movie is bad, the audience won’t care or won’t bother.

It wasn’t always like that. Marvel released multiple bad movies (specifically related to Thor) that still smashed at the box office.

But I also agree that Legacy shouldn’t be released until 2027, at the earliest. The DCU is toxic to audiences right now

I kinda disagree. WW 1 was excellent critically and commercially. So was Joker and Rob Pattinson's Batman. I think WB gets in the way of sequels way toooo much and the Discovery merger is making things worse instead of better as a whole. Just look what they did when they revealed HBO Max to just Max. A total disaster. It's going to be a long time before they get it together.

Good. That’s what they get for screwing over Henry Cavill. Bastards.

I saw Barbie twice and in both events there were NO ads for this movie.

And BOTH are by Warner Bros :deadbanana:

I wonder what would happen in the box office if Disney and DC worked together on a movie.

DC just has weird and uninteresting superheros. Like why tf would I want to watch a movie on a beetle superhero :rip:

It is literally making 1/4 of it's budget back in 3 days.

Plus it's marketing budget appears small.

AND on top of that, it's for a superhero that the majority of the GP don't know.

It's doing just fine!

That's funny because the ONLY reason I knew this movie was coming out was because it was promoted at my viewing of Barbie two weeks ago :dies:

My friend told me this film is good so I may go see it.

I'm curious what the diversity breakdown for this movie will be. Latinos tend to not support Latino-led films they way Black audiences do.  They prefer GP hits.  Blue Beetle bombing is probably bad for Latino actors, but Latino animation seems to do well.

Every superhero flop is welcome. I can’t wait til this nerdification of cinema dies out. Just stick to Batman

The fact we’ve had to suffer through twinks and hicks shooting lasers and delivering forced Comedy Central’d ‘jokes’ for over a decade is insane, reparations are needed

It wasn't that good, I'm sorry. I'm Latino and I can't endorse this film. The comedy was cringe af and the action scenes were mid. Sorry.

Films usually have to make double their budget to break even (this cost $104 million to make). This ain’t making $200 million

this feels like a year it's gonna have a big impact on hollywood.

GOTG 3 probably the only super hero movie will not bomb in 12 months.

A disney live action made bad numbers.

Indiana Jones, Transformers, Mission impossible, Fast and furious are bomb or they made weak and underestimate numbers.

Manwhile a pure comedy for women is making near to 1.5B and a pure 3 hours historical drama is making 900-1B. They said these genres were dead and only for Netflix now.

People, especially outside the US market, are saying we are tired of epic scales action flicks with first act, second act, third act and boom boom boom. It's okay to have some of them (top gun and avatar) if they are big events, but one every new week?. Give us something new.

Joker 2, that it's gonna be like a pure drama- musical, making more than 1B next year would be a good sign too. I hope movies like next Scorsese and Joo- ho next sci fi can make big money too and over what is now thhe average result for a super hero movie.
