Let's NOT. 40M-50M is still very good for Nolan, he's got a strong loyal fanbase. On the other hand Barbie gained very little from the association with Openheimer, it was goin to do numbers on the level of Mario Bros no matter what, even if it was critically panned. The marketing and hype was so meticulously well handled and it's a massive brand like Mario. 1

It’s got an “A” cinemascore from audiences, meaning it’s bound to have great WOM and be a success. Outside of “tenet” (which came during the height of the pandemic) all of Nolan’s movies were grossing $500 million+ at the box office since “the prestige”. The man gets butts in theaters. The movie itself wasn't as expensive as other's because of the lack of CGI and using more traditional decors (which apparently, are way less expensive).
