mystery Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 Jesus Christ both of these movies will be massive, wouldn't be surprised at all if Oppenheimer outgrossed Dunkirk globally.
ALA Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 Studios are gonna clamor to try and get the next property they think will be "the next Barbie" and fail miserably but I do think this is gonna be a game changer in terms of making more blockbusters for women

Greta Gerwig will be WB/Zaslav's golden goose he's gonna open the pocketbooks for her after this smashing success. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is all but going to be hers after the Narnia reboot. We're definitely gonna be seeing more women-leaning big budget projects. Hopefully this gives labels faith is reviving the mid-sized female-oriented comedy like Bridesmaids (one of the best comedies of all time) and just more women-leaning projects.
V$. Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 (edited) MY GOD Barbie becomes the 2nd biggest debut in history in Brazil with an absurd R$ 22.9 million on its first day of exhibition. The feature is second only to Avengers - Endgame (R$ 29.9M). Edited July 21, 2023 by V$. 1

ALA Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 On the lower end, with that preview # Oppenheimer will get to 80m+ for the weekend... like that is NUTS
ctlp27 Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 I still do wonder if Oppenheimer will have legs due to its runtime and I think the ratio will be more in favor of domestic than foreign (love to be proved wrong). Barbie will be at 800 M$ minimun and a great ad for ratings for the Oscars : original screenplay, supporting actor, original song, costume and set design, maybe lead actress depending of how long the strike goes on and delay fall movies, original song and who knows, maybe they will let Greta have a director nom again

byzantium Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 The 9am showing of Barbie tomorrow At my local theater is only 50% sold out. The film is flopping. It will only make $200million domestically. (Bookmark me)

I can't wait for a certain subreddits face when this movie hopefully hits $1 billion. 1

Da Vinci Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 Latin America and Europe will DEVOUR Barbie Ditto.mp3 for Australia and New Zealand 1

There is only a finite number of screens and seats so this seems like something we can figure out.

It's hard to tell for BP as the pool is bigger and movie does have a feminist stance that might turn off some... members lol but I hope so! It's def one of the only blockbuster budget that has the critics going for it!
