Sony needs to stop wasting Peter Parker’s checks on this Spidermanless cinematic universe m. The MCU can afford a flop, but how can Sony afford morbius and this bombing:rip: Kraven ain’t gonna make venom numbers either. Lets be fr

it's not just that. for the general audience, these movies are just further plummeting the widespread opinion of marvel and comic book movies as a whole. sony has to stop with these awful solos which are akin to setting money on fire, or else they'll sink this whole ship.

they're drunk. someone needs to take their keys.

Bob Marley looking very strong. Despite dropping hard on Thursday ($3.9M), it looks set to have a healthy weekend and get to around $40-43M for the 5-day Valentine's debut. With President's day boost on Monday we could be looking at close to $50M 6-day. We're jammin'.

Much needed life for the depressing box office.

Madame Web looks set for $22-24M 5-day, $27M 6-day. While bad, not as bad as I thought after seeing reviews. Though it will likely drop off the face of the earth pretty quickly.

Sony has to keep making Spider-Man content to keep the rights so they won’t stop anytime soon. They’ll keep throwing **** at the wall in hopes something sticks. As long as Venom continues to do well, no real reason for them to stop trying.

Their movies are low budget anyway so they don’t bleed too much money even when they bomb.

Bob Marley with a great Friday ($7.5M) and Saturday increase ($11.7M). 5-day headed for $46-47M and a $51-52M 6-day. Definitely performing better than expected. Should be able to get to $100M+ domestic.

Madame Web has a solid jump on Saturday too ($6M+) despite being one of the worst films in recent memory. It's headed for $26-27M 6-day. Still meh, but not a disaster like Argylle.

Anyone But You passed The Marvels domestically after another stable weekend. It will also outgross it worldwide in the next two weeks.

Pretty insane. This film was originally tracking for like a $3M debut, and will outgross the sequel to a $1.1B MCU film. :deadbanana4:

Wonka also with extraordinary legs, this weekend saw an increase from last, it will pass Antman 3 domestically either next weekend or the one after. Timothee Chalamet will have back to back $600M movies with Wonka and Dune 2.

too bad the sequel's been in development hell for 6 years.

currently the director's busy with post production on ariana's musical. and then he might jump onto a Joseph musical adaptation first.

Wonka is an insane sleeper hit. Made much more than The Greatest Showman (similar musical which also turned out to be a strong hit only on the long run) even if the only memorable song was Scrub scrub (whereas TGS soundtrack carried the movie to success)

I'm so surprised this has spread. This is completely false.

The original article used Box Office Mojo as the source. But on Dune's Box Office Mojo page, they have added the total UK gross from 2021 to the 2024 re-release. Collider didn't bother verifying the data, posted their false article, and now all the big film pages have just regurgitated that article without checking for themselves either.

Misinformation in real time. Film journalism is in the pits.

This re-release has made at most, $5M.

This weekend will be pretty boring. Bob Marley is going strong, definitely doing better than anyone expected and should get another weekend at #1 pretty easily. Something between $13-17M.

Demon Slayer finished #1 on Thursday with it's previews but fanrush will see this come in at #2 for the weekend. I think it can do over $10M.

Everything else is in the dumpster. Madame Web looking at a hefty drop, prob between $5-7M.

The calm before the Spice Storm next weekend.
