Migs30283 Posted July 18 Posted July 18 I think Inside Out 3 will happen either this June 17, 2033 or June 16, 2034 on Father's Day weekend. Thursday previews: 18-23+ million OW: 200+ million

BNF91 Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Huge for Twisters, the Midwest walkups are very strong. It will also get hit hard next wknd with Deadpool, so even with a hefty drop next weekend it should be able to play well through the rest of summer. It needs all the help it can get domestically because OS is not looking too good.
Gossip_Boy Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Glen Powell is on a roll. Watching him go from Scream Queens to one of the most promising up and coming movie stars has been fun. Huntington is going to be another big hit for him I presume.
Life Savers Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Twisters was fun. And it's nice counter-programming to Deadpool.
Gui Blackout Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Happy that Twisters is smashing. Even tho it's a sequel/reboot, it's good to have a non-superhero blockbuster with new leading stars. 1 1
BNF91 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Just $27M OS for Twisters.. and $20M of that came from 4 markets (UK/Aus/France/Mexico) big yikes Domestic had a fantastic debut though, is gonna have to carry hard for this to break even.

I wonder why it kinda bombed overseas. My guess would be the very Midwest/Americana vibe the entire movie has (although Top Gun: Maverick smashed so idrk ). Plus I can only speak for myself here, but at least as someone living in Europe, most people have no experiences with tornadoes whatsoever, so that was probably not as appealing as a disaster concept as it is in the US either. 2

Yeah I'd say that about sums it up. The Midwest is what spurred this from $50M predictions to $80M actual. Deadpool and Wolverine is coming with the widest IMAX release ever, so pretty much taking all them from Twisters after just 1 week. On the bright side, it helps to be smashing domestically because Universal gets a bigger share of box office gross compared to overseas. Should help towards breaking even, which is likely the best this can do at this point. Maybe $240M domestic and $120M OS? $360M finish give or take.

Tornadoes in Europe are definitely not common but they do happen on occasion. But yeah, an American is more likely to understand the depths of the film better since we get tornadoes every year. The film is amazing though and it deserves all the success regardless.
Gorjesspazze9 Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Saw Twisters the other day. It reminded me of the 90's blockbuster. It's a good time at the theaters. Can't wait for Deadpool this weekend. It's definitely the Movie of the Summer/Year
