Tylerbv Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Moana is definitely massive compared to Inside Out 1, but I could see Moana 2 having an uphill battle. Given the changes (the fact it was originally supposed to be a TV show but they squished it into a movie, the fact they're making a live action soon after, and the lack of Lin Manuel Miranda's music), I could see it getting negative reviews, which may affect the younger crowds. Especially since I think IO2 will attract more solo adults than Moana 2 but I guess we'll see. 1

Very true, Moana 2 is seen as a cash grab (Disney+ show turned into a movie) for now unlike IO2 where people think introducing new emotions for puberty makes a lot of sense much like how Toy Story 2 and 3 were natural progressions of the Andy arc. Moana could also be a streaming-only phenomenon, who knows. IO1 made $859M in theaters vs Moana 1's $687M. But if Moana 2 actually turns out to be an acclaimed masterpiece then no need to worry! 1
BNF91 Posted June 30 Posted June 30 (edited) Weekend shaking out like this Inside out 2- $56-58M A Quiet Place- $52-53M Franchise best debut for A Quiet Place: Day One. A tad bit front loaded from the Friday, but should still be able to clear $150M domestic at least. Would be solid. Inside Out 2 will be at $465-470M today. It's still headed for $630-650M+ domestic. EnigmaticAndroid Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Longlegs is being projected to do 3M-4M in previews Can't help but think that it may just be pulling in the younger cinephile crowd and it'll end up being frontloaded, but I would love if it really broke out. There's a path for it. An Intruiging but accessible premise, incredible marketing, really strong reviews, and they've done a great job of framing it as a truly scary film that needs to be seen in a theatre.
Broken Posted July 11 Posted July 11 (edited) - 4th biggest animated movie ever. - Biggest Pixar movie ever. - Biggest movie ever in Mexico. Edited July 11 by Broken 1
Da Vinci Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Shrek 5, Super Mario Bros 2, Toy Story 5, Frozen 3 are ALL coming in 2026?? A bloodbath 1
BNF91 Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Sizzling hot $3M preview for Longlegs. Could go for $14-18M for the wknd if it can hold up. Despicable Me 4 should be good for $32-37M Inside Out 2 trucking along in wknd 5, $19-23M Fly Me To the Moon should go for $10-12M. But a ridiculous $100M budget will fail this project financially.

Da Vinci Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Inside Out 2 has already passed Frozen 1's worldwide gross in less than a month PLEASE also pass the awful emotionless uncanny Lion King CGI remake

fridayteenage Posted July 13 Posted July 13 i don't think in general the streaming services expect any profit from their movies

Acuminatus Posted July 17 Posted July 17 Finally saw Inside Out 2 and the smashery is well deserved! Inside Out was one of my favourite Pixar films, and this is a worthy sequel. 1
BNF91 Posted July 17 Posted July 17 Shrek will decimate Toy Story in its 3rd weekend. They need to move that up a week or two. Shrek could very well be a $200M+ debut.
Da Vinci Posted July 17 Posted July 17 Yeah I wouldn't underestimate Shrek 5 2000s nostalgia is peaking + Shrek is known by Gen Z cause of memes and TikTok + the original cast is coming back + goodwill from The Last Wish It will be like the Gentleminion event but on steroids and involving everyone and their grandmas I fear, it will be massive 2

Blade Runner Posted July 17 Posted July 17 Inside Out was kinda underrated by general audiences when it first came out, so I'm happy about all of this because it was peak Pixar just like Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, etc etc. Just instantly iconic. Soul 2 next because that movie was also a masterpiece, but it was sabotaged by the pandemic.
