Gorjesspazze9 Posted May 26 Posted May 26 Just got out of the theater for Fall Guy. It was Amazing and a fun time. Kinda Long. But definitely Peak entertainment. Too bad it's flopping. 1

Both films opened at memorial day weekend. Also, Mermaid managed to break even i think. Edited May 27 by Space Cowboy

Both movies were released during Memorial weekend and Furiosa didn't have a hate train attached to it for very.obvious reasons. Plus TLM did turn a profit 1
fridayteenage Posted May 27 Posted May 27 (edited) the direct precedent for furiosa was fury road, which also failed to profit and made $380 million the comparison points for mermaid were lion king, aladdin, and beauty & the beast. furiosa dropping a bunch as a dystopian prequel makes a lot of sense, just like ballad of songbirds and snakes. I expected it to win based on its quality or so I have heard, only seeing it next week
ctlp27 Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Clearly WB made a mistake in making this movie for that price tag (even though it makes more sense to spend +100M on a Mad Max movie than The Fall Guy), but since they were on a roll with Wonka, Godzilla and Dune, I'm very surprised it didn't at least get an opening in line with predictions. Great reviews and Cinemascore + visual spectacle that justifies the high ticket price.

Solo A Star Wars Story got A- Transformers Rise of the Beasts A- Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny B+ wonka's predecessor made $476 mil back in 2005 godzilla's predecessor made $470 mil in 2021 when things were still pretty covid-impacted and was released on max at the same time

I have mixed feelings about it bombing, I feel bad for everyone involved but then again I'm glad Ryan flopped because I don't like what Eva turned him into 'I only make movies my wife and my kids would like me to make' Anyway, it has shown great stability in US, not so much outside of US, and honestly I don't get the budget. If it had reasonable budget like 50m it would've seen profit already. 1
NoAngelus Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I'm heartbroken for Furiosa flopping because that means we will never get MM: The Wasteland. If only it didn't take him a decade to make this one we could've had sequel now...

I’m not totally surprised that Furiosa bombed, though I still thought it would do better than that, considering the goodwill to its (overrated!) predecessor. 2
