Hollywood is more out of touch than ever on what audiences want.

Hollywood is not out of touch when trash like Super Mario is a billion dollar film. Why aren’t you guys ever objective when it comes to something not having commercial success? Why is the onus always on that thing and not the audience? The fact that you guys are still under the notion that success equal good is mind blowing.

People also forget that there is a huge boycott against Disney from conservatives because of the Don’t Say Gay thing.

I was told the The Little Mermaid was a success. Which one is it?

It’s an underperformance at the box office, might end up below breaking even which is around 625m I think but should make that money back on Disney+ and merchandise

So overall a disappointment but not a complete disaster like The Flash

Let's be honest, no one asked for that movie like no one asked for some of these other flops tbh.

It's kinda funny to see some of you say audiences are tired of regurgitated trash content when the Mario movie is the most successful film of the year. :rip:

When was the last Mario movie? :rip:

Nobody needed another Transformer, Fast or Indiana Jones films. Those are regurgitated and tired ideas. The Little Mermaid was long as **** and kind of boring. Terrible replay value, at least theatrically. The Flash probably would’ve done better if not for Ezra and them tiptoeing around promoting it - but still yet another superhero film. And Elemental is basically Inside Out but not as good. Didn’t see it to confirm that but that’s how the trailer plays.

Mario wasn’t anything amazing or anything, but it was different and fun to watch at least.

I remember hearing the Phoebe Waller-Bridge character is supposed to

Spoiler

become the new 'Indiana Jones' by the end of it? :rip:

Disney continues to give the "go woke go broke" crowd more material :shakeno:

The reviews actually say it’s not what happens.

Oh thank God :clap3: The discourse surrounding it would've been the pits!

TLM has more than broken even. People say it’s a flop because it didn’t gross 1B which is very unrealistic. Not to mention it will be a huge on Disney+

Franchise and reboot fatigue. It was inevitable. Audiences know these films only exist to make money and are far inferior to their source material.

Thank you, Jesus. We need Howllyood to STOP this bullsh+t and start making more original movies. We don't need Fast & Furious 65, Indiana Jones 32, Star Wars: The Rebels: The Play: The Musical 3, The Devil Wears Prada 4, etc etc. Enough is ENOUGH.

The "IP/brand" sh+t is tired af. We don't care.

Why do you think it underperformed?

I’m sure Disney wanted the movie to make a whole lot more than 500 M. You must admit that anything under 700M is bad.

Maybe if Hollywood could put out something besides remakes, reboots and superhero movies.

In what world was the Mario movie different? It's as tired of an IP'd movie as all the other ones mentioned, and less so than Elemental, which is an actual original movie.

Not you siding with Hollywood. :rip: People are NOT obligated to part with their hard earned and decreasing in worth money to line rich peoples pockets. If they don’t want to see all these bad movies, that’s perfectly fine. Hollywood isn’t doing **** to help out the average person or actually care about. It’s up to Hollywood to make something mass audiences want to see or cut budgets so niche films can be successful.

The entire top 10 grossing movies of the year are all franchises and well known IP’s. So how exactly is the general public tired of it😆

it’s clear that it’s just a overcrowded blockbuster season. Y’all need to stop with the conspiracy that the conservatives are going against blockbusters🤦‍♀️😆

Elemental is a new IP and it did worse so Hollywood might be confused right now. Meanwhile Zootopia 2, Frozen 3 and Toy Story 5 got greenlight

Mario and Barbie are exciting because it's a new vision and interaction with those classic IPs
