swiftsummer13 Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 stranger was described as a “very beautiful calm acoustic song about finally being over someone and reflecting on the pain”. chorus is “now you’re just a stranger i know everything about”. interesting that liv now has three unreleased(ish) songs called strange, strangers again and stranger.
FailSafe Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Love Is Embarrassing has THE best chorus objectively. That sht screams 10-week monster smash hit 1
FailSafe Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 (edited) For some weird second string LOOOOOOOOSEEERRRR who's not worth mentioning MY GOD I don't understand why they pick Bad Song, Right? over this smash waiting to happen! Edited September 8, 2023 by FailSafe
MALAMENTE Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 lacy made me uncomfortable on first listen. also it happened with sour too but at first listen all the songs sound the same to me and its only over time that i can separate them. maybe it is a me thing but its interesting to say the least
Lemon Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 This is really much better album than Sour. I still don’t vibe with the whole package, but: - making the bed - pretty isn’t pretty - get him back! - lacy - love is embarrassing are all great tracks ( and possibly in that order ).
Proseductice Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Okay I like Lacy, Logical, Love is Embarrassing, The Grudge, and Pretty Isn’t Pretty, and Teenage Dream the most. I can see Pretty Isn’t Pretty resonating with a lot of her younger fans. Teenage Dream is beautiful, great closer. Logical is in that same vein but really sad that she blames herself for that relationship. Love is Embarrassing NEEDS to be a single. Solid album all around, you can hear the 80s rock influence loud and clear. It’ll be a successful Sophmore album for sure.

liquiddiamonds Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Everything here is SO superior to SOUR, which was already a good record. The leap is quite remarkable. The production is miles ahead from other pop/rock girls and Olivia has as much wit as wide eyed eye to heartache details this time around. Even the ballads are superior bar Driver’s License from SOUR. I loved the way they recorded the piano, you can truly feel the warmth. Truly understood what a sophomore is supposed to be, by elevating her as an artist. Even if it doesn’t do as well as SOUR she can rest assured and proud of her work. It ends rather beautifully too with the crescendo. Smartly built all around 1
liquiddiamonds Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Pretty isnt Pretty is for the 80s college rock girlssss
Mr. Duff Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 The second half is the stronger section for me. Logical, Love is Embarassing, The Grudge. pretty Isn’t Pretty and Teeange Dream run >>>>>>>> Get Him Back better grow on me. I don’t really enjoy it that much right now but I know it’s a great song.

It really encapsulated the whole “write what you wanna hear on the radio” that Jack White told her Right? Like f*ck y'all mean saying it's not the right single!? It's an undeniable smashA. Another example of why pop girls shouldn't listen to stans. 1
HappierJealousy Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 Anyone has Adele’s 30 first day data? both released in the local time
Billionaire Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 (edited) Yeah this kinda stomps on SOUR I'd say that maybe has the better ballads but this one is just far more realized & consistent It has a decent amount of ballads compared to what I really expected, interesting because from what the singles showed I thought she'd ditch it altogether. Smart move though to not lose parts of the fanbase that prefers drivers license/happier/traitor type songs, sadly apart from making the bed and teenage dream they all seem to be skips for me. We'll see once the weather gets colder maybe. top 5 non-singles: ballad > pretty isn't pretty > love is embarrassing = all-american b*tch > making the bed. Basically all the upbeat songs, pip in particular is my most played so far cause i used to listen to that type of music ALOT. That top 4 & GHB give me the most 'nostalgic' vibes, the latter is a bit too basic for my taste personally but I can definitely see it be a hit. One of the best records of the year for sure, I guess you can say she's been added to my stanlist I think I might go to that New York pop-up she announced now that the album is confirmed to be fantastic Edited September 8, 2023 by Billionaire
Lovett Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 This is a really strong album. Good for her.
