Pretty isn't pretty is like Ghost on PRISM. Great song but I don't see it being a hit. Love is Embarrassing and Get Him Back are much better choices.

Exactly why it reminds of PRISM Katy :weeps: It could be a hit I fear

im speechless, finally finished the album so i can comment on it.

i loved sour, but this album is even better, probably because she also got more confident in her writing and vocal delivery.

every single song gets different side of her and we can hear that (you can almost touch it, thats how good it is). her being so raw is the reason i think she can get wider range of demographic (other than teens).

production shines. her and dan sound like they work together versus 'let me email him this real quick'.

i love the cover and promo.

songs that are tthe best and must listen imo:

1. pretty isnt pretty (thats such a strong moment on the album, im aware shes skinny, i didnt know shes having health issues/ED, im so sorry for her,

the way she wrote it reminded me of iconic songs like beauty from pain, courage by superchick, nicole richie droplets, i agree with someone on ATRL mentioning Garbage influence)

2. the grudge/love is embarassing/get him back trio (i love simplicity of production in verses, putting focus on lyrics that are really direct and open)

3. making the bed (masterpiece)

honorable mention: teenage dream. unique perspective and fresh listen. even though im not 19 i totally understand where shes coming from. as some user said 'we all been there' and i wasnt even famous. i cant even imagine growing up and being famous.

all the songs are pretty strong so i cant put list of songs to skip at all.

i think this is one of the stronger pop albums this year.

no offence to rita ora, karol g, ava max, pink, miley cyrus, fenne lily, lana del rey, bebe rexha, sabrina carpenter and ellie goulding if we count deluxe versions but olivia album is the best this year out of western female pop singers.

Olivia about to Lover her album with these single picks :lakitu:

I just finished the album. I should preface that I didn't like SOUR that much, so GUTS exceeded every expectations I had (I should have known better after hearing vampire though).

teenage dream is far and away my favorite track. ballad of a homeschooled girl, all american b*tch, the grudge, vampire, making the bed and the grudge are all excellent. I might need a bit more time with pretty isn't pretty, lacy and logical. bad idea right? grew on me but it's still not something I really love.

The songs I didn't like are love is embarrassing and get him back!, and obviously the latter is the next single. :deadbanana4:

Overall, it's so much better than SOUR and an excellent sophomore album. With GUTS I finally understand where the praise for her as a songwriter is coming from. She's still very young and has time to polish her skills but this is already a huge step up. She's got potential to become really excellent.

I'll have the album on repeat for a few weeks at the very least. :clap3:

Really haven’t liked much from this era. Her sing-talking verses just aren’t for me in this album.

The production on Lacy is insane. I also think it's not about another girl -- maybe an alter ego

I also don't want to use the word "experimental" but the way she plays with structure -- while still being melodic and catchy -- is fairly unique.

Just finished listening and I feel it's an evolution and a good follow-up to SOUR. GUTS will take more than one listen and it's a grower. Get Him Back is single material.

When I first heard it, it reminded me so much of Ghost.

it's most likely about the guy who she wrote "1 step forward, 3 steps back" for as she mentioned Friday in May 2020.

This is a record to be felt. I really appreciate that honestly. I don’t think Olivia writes exactly for me, even though i’m 3 years older than her, I feel such maturity from her music that talks to me if I need it to. The production of her music just hits right with whatever i’m feeling right now. I dont know with i’ll listen to this again but I feel the emotions she puts out with her song and music, and they feel so present it’s a nice feeling. She has a gift and I really appreciate that personally. I’ll listen to this album again.
