Sia is older than Beyonce

Her music career isn’t though.

That's actually impressive, out of those girls the only "spammer" is Taylor Swift and she'd be there regardless. Among the males there are many more who release 18 singles a week like The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, Drake and so on.

well, you're wrong.

Spotify uses Lead credits in their artists chart. and when they announced the most streamed artists of the 2010s in 2019 they had ariana above Rihanna and at that point Rihanna still gad more streams than Ariana in "all credits"

Spotify just automatically attributes to an artist only what appears on their Artist page, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's only songs they have a lead credit on, especially nowadays when it's a common practice to even add features to albums to boost numbers. For this reason, you'll get for example Dusk Till Dawn counting towards Sia's total, but not Titanium, although she's technically a feature in both. It's entirely arbitrary, which is why it actually makes sense to have a ranking like this that accounts for an act's entire discography :michael:

There is no official count for artist streams on spotify, we are the users who do the counting. Spotify only reports song streams. All Credits means all the songs that have that singer, it is the REAL method of knowing how much that artist generated in streams in his name and not just in his own releases, since many times are the cause of the success of the feats of other artists.

Spotify does a daily Top Artists chart where they count lead streams, which they define as all the songs that appear in an artist's page. Some features are counted and some are not, which is weird, but that's how they do their official charts. They also congratulated Drake a few months ago for surpassing 50B streams (when in all-credits he is already at +80B streams).

It’s always funny to me when ppl use “in HISTORY” for metrics that didn’t even exist 10 years ago :rip:

I mean if we talk about music history as business it barely has a century. So as HISTORY time that is also nothing

Oh it really doesn't matter one bit. We are here now and we can count everything. Spotify has an algorithm that isn't exactly "lead", it's a little messier about records. Did you know that a feat with 4 artists, only 3 could be credited?Someone needs to be left out, in Taki Taki it was cardi B, and she is no less important. It's just metrics that the Spotify algorithm uses, it doesn't really matter when we do lists and count streams, there's the lead list and the all credits list. Everyone can consider one of them as more correct. Counting all songs will always be more accurate than "lead credits" as this is a big hoot just for fear of other artists with big collabs surpassing someone who never hits on featurings.

That's not true.

Everyone on this song is a lead :gaycat7:

She's not ahead of Beyoncé, FYI! Beyoncé has just passed 21B, Sia hasn't yet.

This is true. She even predates her in the industry by a couple of years. However, Beyoncé has been charting and in public conscious for longer. Longer than some of the fonts here have been alive. I'm assuming longevity is what that user was referring to.

That's a good point!

It technically is. Sia debuted in 95 and Beyonce debuted in 97.

Keep in mind, I don't like Sia and I'm not trying to take anything away from Beyonce. I'm just a stickler for details because that's how my brain works

Sia’s career is so wild. It’s amazing that she’s still up there when her last pop album came out in the same year as Rihanna’s and her catalog of hits isn’t half as big.

The thing is that it isn't just about adding features, stans are even including streams from albums that are tagged as Selena Gomez & The Scene to her overall numbers, despite that SG & The Scene act have an entire different artist page to themselves, for example. I'm not necessarily against them combining those stats, but that info probably isn't clear to most.

Achievement lists from random stan twitter pages will always be messy.

Dua and Billie are really impressive. I wish they would put out albums at a faster rate so they would climb faster.
