Is Jennifer Lawrence one of the biggest fads of Hollywood?

Her bad attitude during her time on X-Men paired with her stunningly awful performance in said franchise kind of ruined her for me.

I'm sorry but Anya Taylor-joy came after and easily clears JLaw in box office power, acclaim, demand and longevity.
Jlaw’s association with Weinstein didn’t help.

Is this a joke

The delusion :deadbanana4: #ThankYouMCU

her Black Widow movie was a BOMB and it confirmed that she wasn't one of the biggest MCU names. she was literally a back up character in every single movie. :deadbanana4:

200m$ budget / 370m$ gross A BOMB

JLaw isn't chasing fame and did small indie movies like mother! and red sparrow. She's just enjoying her life while ScarJo is a laughing stock for stealing roles from PoC. :deadbanana4:

ScarJo is a perfect back up actress, but she's NOT a main star like Jennifer Lawrence.

JLaw IS and HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE FACE of her movies. NOT A BACK UP STAR.

She RAN the 2010s movies industry and you will FUME.

PERIOD.

Ugh mother! was such a serve :WAP:

Mother deserved an Oscar nom for that role

Posted

Her performance in Mother was simply spectacular, the religious voters did not dare to give her the award, let alone nominate her.:coffee2:

They want to tear her down but she will wake up like a phoenix when you have talent you can handle everything:giraffe:

That number is basically the same as Ticket to Paradise starring Julia friggin Roberts and George friggin Clooney. What were the expectations here?

Lawrence is 13 years into her career.
13 years in, Julia friggin Roberts was starring in her Oscar winning turn in Erin Brockovich after over a decade of smash after smash box office hits. ‘Erin’ grossed $28.1 million opening weekend, with a $256.3 million total box office, on her name and performance alone. 13 years into her career Roberts had already proven herself a one of a kind box office draw and a film legend, and yet she was STILL producing juggernaut performance. She is the last true movie superstar. Lawrence’s career a little over a decade in does not compare.

It is decent reviews what?

It’s fine, but nowadays comedies like The Blackening, Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Joyride and more get 85+ scores on rotten tomatoes, so saying that it’s a comedy is not an excuse for middling reception.

i honestly think she’s just getting the Anne Hathaway treatment/curse tbh.

recognizable, acclaimed, once heavily liked and famous, but end up being cringed at eventually. just need to disappear for a while and reimagine her image :foxaylove3:

Raunchy comedies usually get lower reception.

Maybe a decade ago or more. Sausage Party, Blockers and Girls Trip all got great critic scores.

I'm sorry but you just can't compare these 2 very different cinema/hollywod and box office climates (and very different careers, also).

I'm afraid so :coffee2: Not a single memorable movie in her entire filmography besides THG

She was so good in Red Sparrow. Love that movie.

She was the face of a franchise that would have been successful without her; I feel like people really loved the overall story, which is why they gravitated towards her. She didn't make the franchise, the franchise made her. It happens to the best of them.

If I remember correctly, even during the time The Hunger Games films were releasing, many still found her to be unlikable due to her personality. I never felt any type of way about her. She was always just there, for me.

whether her box office power waned or not, she is kind of the last movie star of the monoculture or whatever you want to call it. i can't think of a single actor as widely known as her to come after her. she will always be famous and in demand because of that.

Well we have Jenna Ortega which became a huge household name

Margot Robbie

Anya Taylor Joy

And many others who have the same or surpassed Jlaw peak

then you're incorrect. she was the most likable actor back then and everyone loved how down to earth she was :rip: whatever to change the reality i guess

Nah. The internet still loves her.

No idea why they spent so much on a comedy in 2023 when they’ll only shove it in one theatre since everything else is all franchises. Seems like they should’ve pushed it to streaming.

"tHeN yOu'rE inCorRecT..." People on here always speak as if they're so sure about everything. 54531095594f94246c2d12136b2fbc99.gif

A quick Google search will cut out a lot of the confusion and reveal that she was also generally disliked during the time, as a celebrity. I'm not doing it for you, so research and be informed.

When it comes to summer actresses, Jennifer Lawrence reigns supreme.

The Wrap surveyed adults 18-49 to determine which of this year's crop of leading ladies is most beloved by audiences. Lawrence finished at the top of the list, with a 27 positive Q score, two points higher than her closest competitor, Melissa McCarthy. For those unfamiliar with a Q score, it's essentially a rating used by industry types to determine how likable or unlikable a celebrity is according to the public.

Well, the public has spoken. And, J Lawr is very, very likable.

I'm not linking anything. I'm not saying everyone hated her; I'm saying the amount of people that disliked her was plentiful enough to acknowledge, and the articles and statements are plentiful enough to come up abundantly through a Google search. Again, I am not doing it for you; nor am I spending my morning going back and forth over Jennifer Lawrence. If she was perfectly likable in your world, then kudos to you.

“I’m not linking any sources but I’m right” :rip:

She definitely had a hate train during her overexposure (like everyone does - Taylor, Katy, Chris Pratt, Margot seems to be going through it) but she has always had a huge pull with the GP and stans due to her talent and down to earth personality.
