Yes, The Hunger Games franchise carried her mediocre career.

I never said they were... However, it's certainly much more common for them to be panned.

Ok, but don’t act like 66% on RT is “great critical reviews” for a comedy because it just isn’t.

karma for her sticking up with rapist weinstein.

You finding outliers doesn't suddenly change the fact that most of the time adult comedies receive middling to negative reviews.

She clearly taking interesting roles and she's set for life and having fun. Comedy films are rare at the box office and in general, don't do well, it's doing well considering that and she's actually getting praise for her role in the film.

I'm sorry but Anya Taylor-joy came after and easily clears JLaw in box office power, acclaim, demand and longevity.
Jlaw’s association with Weinstein didn’t help.

Where? JLaw literally amassed four Oscar nominations (and one win) in just 5 years and she was the face of the Hunger Games franchise.

And please, don't tell me that you think that the Super Mario movie smashed because of Anya :skull:

The average person doesn’t know who Anya Taylor Joy the actress is

The average person has only seen Jlaw in the hunger games movies. But has seen split, Queens Gambit and Super Mario bros; and her career doesn’t seem to be slowing down unlike Jlaw dead career.

Nope. She doesn’t even come close to how massive J. Lawrence was. Do you remember 2012/2013? Like someone else said, things are way different now. She likely will be the last star of that kind of machine. Things are too fragmented now to ever be able to make a stars the way Hollywood used to make them. Margot is definitely huge but no where near what Jen’s fame was

Jenna Ortega.

It didn’t. Just like the hunger games movies didn’t smash because of Jlaw, of course unless you’re that delusional, which her remaining fans tend to be💀

Jlaw had a cute 3 years run, which was clearly powered by industry giants, we both know who. Most of her movies aren’t good, her range is mid, and her public image got stale real fast. A box office poison I’d say.

It's at 66% on RT. An adult comedy. That's great critical reviews. :skull: So again, I don't understand the attacks against her.

why you always want the last word and even use this gif?

60 on metacritic it's not great reviews, you are just wrong and it's facts.

ps there are plenty of rated R comedies critically acclaimed (why they shouldn't?).. Animal house, bridesmaids, booksmart etc.. so J Law stans can end with this standard they decided yesterday "good for being adult comedy" .....gif RIP Skeleton.

American cinema / Hollywood in general, is in the gutter & has been for a while. I think it’s less about the actor/actress & more about the material.

There’s no originality & no particularly outstanding roles. Everything is military propaganda, fast cars, remakes or superheroes - all appealing to the lowest common denominator. It’s essentially always the same story being told, the same tropes being used.

The media overexposure of the actors during press runs & award campaign seasons, I believe, also detracts from their actual work & it becomes more about their celebrity, which people eventually get tired of & move on to the next new face.

Huh? I didn't use a GIF... Also, you quoted me. Why exactly am I not allowed to reply back to you? Adult comedies on the whole haven't been a commercially successful genre in a while and often receive middling to poor reviews. Finding a handful of outliers to that doesn't magically change reality.

Also, you don't have to be a stan of someone to point out when people are stating inaccuracies. :toofunny3:

For an adult comedy a 60 on MC and 66% on RT is very good, much better than most in it’s genre.

Historically, comedy films are broadly poorly received critically with some outliers. Some of the most beloved comedy films of the last 30 years received mixed to negative reviews. To suggest otherwise is false.

You will find some critically acclaimed comedies but they are few and far between. Rom-coms are even rarer to receive acclaim. Comedy films are more often than not in the negative to mixed bracket because the style is subjective and critics are often not fond of films built upon the specific tropes associated with the genre.

Intellectual property!

Also her 'unique' and very open personality "look-at-me" was really starting to get on my nerves.

She has such a bad filmography and now doesn't know where to take her career. She needs much better choices.
