Is Jennifer Lawrence one of the biggest fads of Hollywood?

A decade ago, she was EVERYWHERE. Snatching box office smashes and critically acclaimed prestige films equally.

But now her career seems to be in shambles. She hasn’t had a critically acclaimed film since American Hustle (2013). Most of her films since, have been either panned or received a mixed reception.

Her last box office smash was Mockingjay Part 2 (2015).

And now this blind item clearly talking about Jlaw just dropped

How did she go from being the most popular actor on the planet to becoming this irrelevant?

Like we’ve been seeing, it seems franchises > actors these days. I have no idea who paid her $25 mil for a rom com in this box office climate. This could have been a cute streaming hit, but I fear the budget vs box office might result in a wave of negative press.

She ruined Mystique. Deserved. :clap3:

Times change. Major Actors become irrelevant all the time. The general public just don’t care.

The GP doesn’t wanna see romcoms in theaters anymore. Why is Hollywood still spending so much on them? And yes, a lot of JLaw fans are stuck in 2013.

Idk, she had other films outside Hunger Games and wasn't she recently praised for Mother or whatever? Plus, that rom-com film trailer went viral....

she’s one of the highest paid actresses of the last decade, translating from a sitcom actress to an Oscar winner while anchoring a successful franchise (The Hunger Games) that’s still getting praise and love to this day. she’s lent her $$$ to charitable causes and advocated for women’s rights. and she literally just had a baby. if anything, she has nothing left to prove and a career as lucrative as that enables her to chose whatever projects she wants regardless of box office stats.

How is it Hollywood spending "so much money" on romcoms when they literally don't exist anymore? lol It's a dead genre and that's why you see annoying people on Twitter talking about how they want them back all the time.

Sadly, I think her stardom is officially over. Kinda her fault for doing awful work like X-Men's Mystique and also that's how Hollywood works now.

Well, they spend $45 million on this, and $20 million on Bros when neither of those movies were ever going to make back those budgets in theatrical profits.

Love her or hate her, HG fan here so yes she is pretty much or Liz Tay.

You're right, but this is an exception. Outside of terrible Netflix romcoms, they're not a thing nowadays.

She married and became a mother and actually didn't want to work ever again. Priority has changed etc.

Still love her tho :heart2:

whether her box office power waned or not, she is kind of the last movie star of the monoculture or whatever you want to call it. i can't think of a single actor as widely known as her to come after her. she will always be famous and in demand because of that.

Why did she choose this project as her movie 'comeback' :celestial5:

She got lucky snatching a part in the Hunger Games franchise and road the momentum to get an Oscar in a weak year thanks to Harvey. She's the Gwyneth of the 2010's.

Maybe she shouldn't have alienated audiences by feeling above roles like Mystique :michael:

Margot Robbie? I mean she technically came after.

How do we even know she cares? Maybe she's just taking interesting roles. I can't imagine money is much of an issue to her.

All her movies have been bombing for like 5 years or more now. Nobody really care for morgot Robbie. She be lucky if the Barbie movie becomes a success.

Jennifer was too dependent on Harvey tbh. She clearly benefited from his management. It’s no coincidence she not getting good roles after he was sent to prison.

this is the problem. like why this project, i'll wait to fully judge once I see it, but the trailer looks so bad, i'm like why was this project greenlit based on the trailer, posters, etc.
