Zendaya's acting abilities are seriously lacking in comparison to her peers

Finally someone said it, I haven't been impressed by her acting in anything.

She's always been average at best.

no she's beyond fantastic in some episodes of Euphoria; WAY above her peers but she hasn't proven herself in a movie yet

although I did notice some subtle nice work in Dune 2 but she's not up to par with the 2 male co-star in Challengers. to be fair O Connor and Faist are some of the most talented actors of their generation

Zendayas acting is great in the right role. She won 2 emmys for a reason.

Its the range i think she may lack.

What's this?

The strikes pushed movie release dates so the overall outlook on 2024 is it will be really bad for the business, almost as bad as covid was. So now the saying is basically just try and survive this year of a loss of money. Obviously this mostly affects blockbusters, but it trickles down to the awards movies too and it's going to be a way less crowded year. So it gives opportunities to movies that were released earlier to have chances during awards season. This has already been happening the last few years (EEAAO - March, Oppenheimer - July) possibly due in part to covid as well.

It's an R-rated film...

and it basically broke even with House of Gucci, an R rated film that came out during a bad time in the pandemic :eli: slice it anyway you want, this is debut is underwhelming (and I liked the film!)

People need to realize that in this streaming era, box office ain't everything anymore

Look at Saltburn, its box office is minimal, but I dare to say it was one the more popular and talked-about films of 2023. And it will clearly be more remembered than other box office "hits"

Nobody was expecting this to do blockbusters numbers. This isn't an amazing debut but it's by no means bad. It did an additional 10M internationally and it might have decent legs because of good word of mouth and upcoming competition that isn't in the same lane. It's also an Amazon production so they could have just released it straight to streaming like the One Direction fan fiction movie but they didn't, so they see promise in it between box office and awards season.

Zendaya will get nominated for Best actress me thinks. She will be this year welcome to the club nomination. AMPAS has been waiting for her right role.

She will gather enough passion votes for her to get nominated.

Well that's a reality check; somehow neither of the 3 were a big explosion to bring the audiences to theaters, and let's not compare this with Saltburn because that was a Prime movie with a limited release worldwide and with a streaming date announced before the premiere.

This one was a full on theater release with a worldwide promo tour and no release date on streaming announcement.

Look at the demos and you will see the reason.

Horizon Flame

Another flop for a  Zendaya-lead film. She's simply not a box office draw.
