Tropez Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Quote Happy Pride Month, one and all! It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and to celebrate, we asked Time Out’s LGBTQ+-identifying writers and editors to tell us all about their favourite city on the planet. The resulting list covers all four corners of the globe, from the beaches of Brazil to the creative hub of Glasgow’s Southside. These are cities with a vibrant queer community, cities that support and protect LGBTQ+ citizens and visitors, and cities that are notable hubs for LGBTQ+ life in their respective countries and regions. So, what are the world’s most LGBTQ+-friendly cities? While we couldn’t possibly name them all, these are some of our favourites. Agree? 22. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 21. Hydrabad, India 20. Stockholm, Sweden 19. Leeds, UK 18. Athens, Greece 17. Adelaide, Australia 16. San Francisco, USA 15. Barcelona, Spain 14. Montréal, Canada 13. Buenos Aires, Argentina 12. Berlin, Germany 11. Santiago, Chile 10. Auckland, New Zealand 9. Bristol, UK 8. Johannesburg, South Africa 7. Vienna, Austria 6. Glasgow, UK Spoiler 5. São Paulo, Brazil 4. Melbourne, Australia 3. London, UK 2. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico 1. New York City, USA https://www.timeout.com/travel/lgbtq-friendly-cities

What’s with the latest trend of trying to push Lisbon and Portugal down everyone’s throats? The country is in shambles because of all the hype it got and all the expats are disappointed because the city really doesn’t provide what the propaganda promised them, not socially, not financially, not infrastructure wise etc. Now no one is happy, nor locals nor the hoards of rich digital nomads that went there thinking it is the promise land . She’s a cute girl but she is way far behind from many other cities to be considered one of the most lgbqt + friendly 1

cockatoo Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Kinda shook that 4 British cities made the list but Manchester or Brighton and Hove weren't one of them. Never head Bristol mentioned in these kind of conversations but maybe that's just me

Ratviolo Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 No Italy in sight so I'm going to assume the list is correct

Never been there but people do talk here about Lisbon like it's a promised land so I'm curious what's the tea

The pride march barely gets over 300 people in a city of 10 million however I'll say that there are a LOT of people on Grindr so lotsa closet cases. 1 1 1
Julia Fox Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Santiago on the list they are right! There’s so much fun for the gays (because here are a lot) here

Those socio-economic factors have no direct correlation with the city's friendliness to the LGBTQ+ community and I can't trust a ranking with cities from Brazil, Mexico and India being placed so high compared to European cities.
fememeist Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Pretty much not a single Asian city besides #21 and idk how much of that is reliable
