Surely you don't believe what you've just implied? I think San Francisco residents and those in the area need to understand why people from one of the richest areas of the country are not going to be taken seriously when suggesting they feel their city has somehow become a Walking Dead dystopia. And certainly not when the central complaint is that Prada and Gucci stores are leaving the area. That's not lawlessness and criminality in front of you. It's mass poverty and inequality. How does one of the richest towns in the world justify not having an abundance of free housing for the poor? Surely it's not hard to see why anyone making six figures, for example, would look insane for actually feeling compelled to argue the homeless are somehow the root of the homeless problem? 1

I think the vast majority are perfectly fine living in those communes and getting 3 meals a day and all the drugs at their disposal. Heroin and meth addicts don't want to be clean. Have you ever done those drugs? I have and I can tell you how much they lure you in. and you're making a broad assumption that everyone that's homeless is on drugs 1
Bethenny Frankel Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Until the tech companies move out of Silicon Valley, people are going to continue moving to the Bay Area. Hopefully, this can get under control, because San Francisco is a nice city.
arceus Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 I need the whole California to be in that state I hate capitalism when it's centralized in one state.
Pop Life Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 We may be entering a new era of urban blight. It's wild to even ponder, because the last time these issues were so widespread in the 70s/80s it at least had the upside of driving down real estate prices so the poor could afford to live in the most affected areas. Meanwhile today, places like the bay are 80% dump yet still somehow cost more per square foot than anywhere else in the nation.

The much-hyped San Francisco drain to Austin and Miami pre and post Covid turned out to be a lie, as tech only dipped and went elsewhere by 0.8% according to the Brookings Institution: https://sfist.com/2022/03/24/tech-didnt-move-out-of-ca-la-times-columnist-says-tech-exodus-a-bust/ San Francisco's next boom has apparently already started thanks to A.I. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/07/technology/ai-san-francisco-tech-industry.html
