He thought he could make a profit from reselling Taylor Swift's next album, stolen from a pressing company, on Le Bon Coin. A 43-year-old French multi-recidivist was sentenced to eight months in prison by the Le Mans court.

On Friday June 9, a 43-year-old temporary worker was put on trial for stealing 10 copies of Taylor Swift's next album from the MPO France warehouse in Le Mans (Sarthe), which prints and presses the records for the European market. The perpetrator then put them up for sale on... Le Bon Coin, hoping to capitalize on the aura of the American superstar. The reissue of "Speak Now", which includes two duets with Fall Out Boy and Paramore's Hayley Williams, is only due to reach the public on July 7, and the man wanted to take advantage of this delay to make money off the singer. The first two copies he marketed via the classified ads site were bought at 25 euros each, but the next ones were raised to 50 euros. Unfortunately for the thief, it was one of the company's human resources managers who realized the theft and bought one back to unmask the thief. The man tried to escape through the roof of his home when the police came to arrest him!

Before the court in Le Mans, he explained that he had committed this misdeed out of opportunism to "make ends meet", as Ouest-France reports. "We were unpacking pallets. Discs fell out of a box", he told the court, referring to "financial problems, debts": "I couldn't even afford to eat at lunchtime. My life is complicated". The man, who has 24 previous convictions for theft, damage, drug trafficking, fraud and various other offences, was sentenced to eight months' imprisonment. A forthcoming hearing will determine the amount of compensation he will have to pay to the record company for damage to his image. "If Universal terminates the contract tomorrow, our future is in jeopardy. There are jobs and millions of euros at stake," said MPO France's lawyer.

BUT if he’s a thief then

We can join the heist and

We move to an island

And he can be my DJ

Speak Now on my Beats-Dre.

Every leaker known in comparison is a failure
