Are European cities the best?

Well yes!

Tokyo Toni GIFs | Tenor

In my opinion, European cities are simply the best. They're like stepping into a time machine, where history and culture surround you in every nook and cranny. You'll stumble upon stunning Renaissance, medieval, and baroque buildings, and sometimes even ancient ruins. The architecture is mind-blowing and has this incredible timeless charm. So classy and the fashion sense of the people :jonny5:

Also, European islands are a whole other level of beauty :jonny5:

Yes, Japan is really good too with that time machine feeling

100% yes

yeah they really are

American cities are so ugly and sprawling. I think the only large-ish American city that I like is Boston, but that's because it feels a bit european :rip:

Yes

It’s crazy to me that people in the 1800s knew how to create a better looking city with way less money and tools than we can now. Now-a-days we build as cheaply as possible with no care about aesthetics and wonder why so many modern cities are considered ugly.

I was looking like that reading your post: :busted:

I'm sitting in a huge park in Berlin and had to walk through a district called "Neukölln" to get here...

The day is still young but let me tell you I already met more junkies than some people do in a year. So yes. Great gowns... Beautiful gowns.

I love Europe but tbh the big cities become more and more similar.

And regarding your remark about the architecture; many great buildings were destroyed during war and because of that parts of the city look like a patchwork blanket.

100% agree. I had the same feeling about SF, some parts of it feel very European and actually reminded me of Lisbon (not only the bridge, but also the view of the bay, the hills, the individual houses, etc.)

Yes, 100% agree.

Prague, Lisbon, Budapest, Edinburgh, Vienna, Munich, Brussels, Copenhagen - all great beautiful cities.

London, Amsterdam, Paris are also great, but they're just too huge and sometimes too crowded.

Well, German architecture or Germany in general isn’t really what comes to mind when thinking about beautiful European destinations to begin with

Well, Germany had outstanding and incredibly beautiful cities. Then WW2 came.

Still, smaller towns and villages in Germany are still amazing. The Black Forest area alone >>>

Tempelhofer Feld but still... Yeah. I'm not surprised. I think the OP just romanticizes EU cities.

But I agree with your other post, that germany has amazing cities with beautiful architecture.

Only if I wanted to get pick pocketed. I just got back from Seoul. It’s the safest I’ve ever felt traveling, you literally can leave your wallet and phone at the bar while you use the bathroom and no one will touch it. Its architecture is insane and mixes historical dynastic landmarks with new experiential architecture.

There’s Sooo much more beyond “classical” European cities I’ve learned about in every year of schooling.

They're cute but Tokyo is for sure the best city I've been to

Far superior than most US cities, for sure

North/South American cities like Mexico City, Bogota, Sao Paolo, Montreal, San Francisco, etc all have their own touch of timelessness, in my opinion. This also applies to cities in Asia and Africa, or at least the ones I've been to. Not to mention the unique cultures of each city as well. What are your thoughts on cities in other parts of the world? :coffee:

I love to skate @ Tempelhofer Feld but gurl, there's not an ounce of a shadow. Can't stay there for long in the Summer.

You clearly have never been to DC then…:dies:

Having lived in NYC, Sydney, Berlin, Copenhagen, and been to multiple cities in N America, S America and Asia as well most in Europe, I do think European cities have a quality to them because they were mostly built and planned before the invention of cars, and have been preserved that way, without sacrificing sufficient infrastructure today. In general they’re pretty clean and aesthetic, but still lively. The politics, economics and overall quality of life also helps making a city a good place to live. Obviously you can’t generalize all cities on a continent and I do love the more multicultural aspect of American cities and the natural scenery that isn’t super common in Europe.
