The real question is are they willing to budget a 400 million dollar movie for a black lead actor. The answer is simply- No movie has had a 400 million budget You’re just trolling at this point

Did you miss "and still wouldn’t come close to what they’ve been able to do with animation" literally right after that? Or did you just immediately stop reading because it'd be more fun to pick a fight? I do get that, I guess.
Arcadius Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 This is going to dominate the BO. How on earth did Elemental cost $100M more than this? 1
Siberian Siren Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Well, that was honestly a near-perfect film. Visually stunning (and even I am understating this). Great story. Great voice acting. I basically forgot it was split into two parts, so now I can't wait for the next one to come already. Movie of the year contender for sure. 2

They’re protecting Perdue chicken Tom Holland I suppose I don't understand why people run with the rhetoric that animated adaptations are inherently inferior to live action adaptations. Into the Spiderverse was amazing largely because it was animated with a beautiful art style. You can't bring to life the characters from the original Into the Spiderverse in live action with the same cohesion that it had. 2 1

THANK YOU. I'm TIRED of all the disrespect animation gets in the West (Netflix, Warner Bros, the Academy, this dying forum...). 1 1
Gossip_Boy Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Another Oscar win secured. Only the most goated franchise
Gorjesspazze9 Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE’ is tracking to earn $115M in the film’s domestic opening weekend. The would be a 70% increase from the first film’s opening. Marvel really shutting down those Superhero Fatigue Allegations 😆

People are tired of the MCU and DCEU formulae more than anything else. Guardians of the Galaxy was fantastic but it's a step above your average MCU movie. So, I don't think it's super-hero fatigue. But people are getting burnt out of the same old type of story. The TV shows on Disney+ only amplified that problem.

I don't know why you're turning this particularl comment into a race thing. @GivingCher is simply saying that The Spider-Verse movie work and are so praised BECAUSE they're animated. A live action film will be limited in what they can do. The comic book style/drawing is part of what makes Spider-Verse great and it just wouldn't be achieved in live action. Still perched for real life Miles tho 1

I'd rather have them focus on several smaller threats with iconic team ups and pave the way for mutants to come.
Broken Posted June 1, 2023 Author Posted June 1, 2023 Across the Spider-Verse is currently the highest-rated superhero movie of ALL TIME on IMDb . Nolanites/Batman stans are probably downvoting it right now .
BNF91 Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Easy math. A $115M debut would be a +200%+ increase from the first films opening of $35M I'm betting on this exploding everywhere. Mexico is in megasales mode. $15M debut coming there alone
Gorjesspazze9 Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Mario and Spiderverse both Smashing. Animation killing it this year I knew this would be bigger than the first, but wasn’t expecting this to be opening on par with a MCU movie. Damn

Gossip_Boy Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 The fact it’s sitting at 96% with basically half the story is crazy. Just goes to show how ******* strong the material is.
poki Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 I can't wait for this movie to destroy P*xar's low effort TALENT ONLY.
