Welcome to the DCC is great. Wish I liked the rest of the album, it was just fine. My friend LOVES this band so I checked her out because of her

Just finished my first listen and I absolutely loved it!! They didn't disappoint, it was bop after bop :jonny5::jonny5::jonny5:

I went through so many emotions while listening, and the album felt full of surprises:superman:

Green Eyes gave me so much calm, then Do You Love Me Yet made me dance the hell out of it and made me so happy, but then Pop The Balloon made me so terrified (in the good sense, it would fit so well in a horror movie :dies:)

There are so many things to dissect, but I loved Members Only as I expected, the solo was insane, and the intro and outro felt like a callback to Trip Switch, and City Haunts did the same with Drawing Pins. Talking To Myself is amazing, and I didn't expect to like Tomorrow Is Closed so much :hippo:

Sorry for the late reply, sis! I wanted to give this a few more listens and let it stew before giving an honest opinion!

It's definitely grown on me, I'll give it that. I'm just not blown away...

Members Only is hands down my favourite song, along with Keeping You Around (which funnily enough I did not vibe with on first listen) - I only wish it wasn't 2:49 or whatever. Definitely deserved a proper bridge. 🔥

If they had just a couple more in that vein, this album would go from "good" to "great" for me. And that Trip Switch call back is soooo good!

City Haunts DOES sound like Drawing Pins! Conor's falsetto kinda grates my ears a bit though here which is sad because I looove it usually! 🥺

Pop the Balloon is crazy in the best way possible, I love it! I think I saw criticism saying it sounds disjointed and messy but it works? 🎈

Tomorrow Is Closed/DYLMY/Green Eyes/Foreign Language are all cute in their own right! It just...ugh, feels like something's missing? And I can't make sense of the tracklist order thematically. Maybe I'm just stupid? 😭

I had insanely high expectations going in though as they're my favourite band so that's on me. And of course they have every right to go in whatever musical direction they want to because they're incredibly talented but I...eh, I dunno, I'm hoping there's a Part II or something like Moral Panic with some heavier, rockier songs!

Sorry for the ramble, lol. Just thinking out loud!

Definitely not my favourite album but I would happily give this a solid 3 out of 5 stars. Maybe a 6.5/7 out of 10.

Are you seeing them on tour at all btw? I'm going to the O2 Arena show in London if you are?

This may be a reach lmao but does your username have anything to do with Queen JoJo's iconic song of the same name? 👀

Oh, don't worry. I guess I enjoyed it better because I liked the pre-release singles, but I felt like they didn't that much for me so my expectations were a bit low, then the album and the deep cuts came and I love most of the album right now :gaycat2:

Also, yeah, the tracklist order seems so weird, but I felt the same way with Moral Panic and I just got used to it eventually :dies:

I would love to see them on tour, but I'm from Mexico, and they're coming to the USA in a few months but I can't afford traveling there right now :gaycat6:

They had a live today and said they love playing in Latin America, but sadly the logistics are being too expensive for them right now to make a tour in here :monkey:

Ah, I understand! That's hilarious though - I wasn't too impressed with the pre-release singles and that's exactly why I went in with high expectations. Opposite to you! 😂😂

Yeah, I'm sure it'll all flow seamlessly and click eventually! E.g I'm watching the Tomorrow Is Closed video and it's getting better with every listen! 😂

Awww no, I'm sorry to hear that! Have you seen them live in the US before? Or Latin America? 🥺

Finally listened to this, I was lowkey disappointed  :chick3:

Moral Panic is such a great album, I even have the deluxe on vinyl, but something feels off about DCC idk. Maybe it’ll click eventually but it doesn’t have much replay value for me. Unfortunate because they’re one of my fav bands atm :gaycat6:

Sadly no, I couldn't see them when they came to Latin America last time in 2018. In the last few days there have been rumors of them coming back for 2024 so I'll be perched :lakitu:

I really needed some time for this to digest.

The album is cohesive both in themes as in sounds. It has enough moments that builds from their signature they developed throughout their discography and also enough growth.

Having said that, I hope this is as poppy/synthy as they go.

My highlights on the first listen that aren't singles (yet) are City Haunts, Tomorrow Is Closed, Do You Love Me Yet? and Talking To Myself.

In this interview Dom said he wanted Miley to cover one of their songs because she has an incredible voice :gaycat3:

Haven't heard this album. Broken Machine was so bad while their debut was almost perfect. I don't know if I could recover from that disappointment.
