former heirs of Madonna have a similar career trajectory so when exactly did Lady Gaga surpassed the overall career of Britney Spears? During which era? Or has that yet to happened?

Truthfully

 

Britney was massive from 1999 - 2004ish (Blackout happened) she came back with Circus and it did well, so she was done as of 2008 realistically. 

 

Gaga was massive from 2009 - 2014ish (Joanne happened) she came back with Chromatica and it did well, HOWEVER she also had successes with Cheek 2 Cheek and A Star Is Born, so that's when it happened.

 

Around the 7th year mark.

Yeah technically Britney is more commercially successful for now thanks to her album sales, but Gaga will surpass her in a few years and destroys her in every other metric - Single sales, respect, touring, acclaim and also has her acting career

 

When Gaga has been in the industry the same amount of time as Britney has the gap will be even bigger.

Brit came out at the peak of CD sales and Gags had to cross over from digital sales to streaming rather quickly so it's not really comparable looking at these charts.

 

I would say Britney fell off pretty hard with Britney Jean/the Vegas era. While Gaga's profile actually rose up in her Vegas era.

I can only think of Adele, the ONLY ONE after Britney to score 2 Diamond Albums in pure sales, #1 debut singles after 13 years of career, first week record breaking sales, all that matched with a insame level of fame, CNN woudl broadcast live if Britney was on the streets, 8 years most googled, gaga is so sweet but not in that level.

A Star Is Born. Gaga was so successful and respected that era that yeah looking at their overall careers i do think she's bigger than Britney. 

 

Britney still has bigger impact tho.
