I didn't realize Ariana was that big in Asia other than South Korea, it's crazy how she's currently #2 in most of those markets despite the fact that her only release this year was a remix of a 7 years old song.

Offcourse Taylor was not smashing everywhere with Country Music

 

But despite all that Love Story and YBWM are massive classics

And Fearless scanned platinum in many countries outside of USA

 

 

She was not a popstar from beginning, it's not that hard.

 

If Taylor was local for 70% of career than other Pop girls are local for like 95-99% of their career except Adele.:giraffe:

"she's only been global since 1989" and? 1989 was 10 years ago, and she's been "global" since Red with IKYWT, that's longer than the careers of the favourite atrl girls like the ones the oth in here stans :bird: (She's been global since fearless, but atrl acts like Asia doesn't exist, so let's play their game.)

Certifications mean nothing for this kind of comparison, there are many countries where they don't exist/are not equivalent. You need to compare global units to get an idea of how big an album is globally. And Folklore is mich bigger as Joanne as are all other Taylor albums. Folklore is also bigger than the so called smash soundtrack ASIB.

Taylor’s “risk” of going from the most basic form of country to the most basic form of Pop to then the most basic form of the mixture of both cannot relate!

All the pop girls have experienced being global at some point.

It was about time Taylor did the same for a bit, after being a local, overrated nonfactor in most of the world's territories for most of her career :clap3: Slay queen.

Huh? The topic is about being global not successful. Ofc folklore was bigger than Joanne, nobody is claiming otherwise. Just saying the number od certifications is a good indicator of someone being global. For example, country artists have certifications mostly in the USA and Canada only.

Your logic is flawed. The whole "certifications" system is biased towards artists that do well in Europe and North America. Some of the fastest growing streaming markets in Latin America, Africa and Asia (excluding Japan and South Korea), completely lack of an equivalent company like Billboard or Official Charts.
