Armani? Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 People caught transporting illegal immigrants to Florida now get a felony Illegal immigrants working at a job with more than 25 people have to quit because they have to verify citizen status Healthcare workers at hospitals also ask for immigration status Seems like a extremely polarizing move on Desantis's part but unfortunately Hispanics voted for him last cycle. Cubans in particular at a 70 to 30 split. Will this have repercussions?

Pikachoo Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Nope. Once an immigration has been here for decades and placed roots, they turn against newer immigrants. 1
EtherealCat Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 no a lot are so far removed from immigration that they themselves now turn against immigration
gatito Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 probably not, a lot of cubans are self hating and very conservative 1
Danny789 Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 No because Cubans are weird, I’ve only met one that’s not conservative in my life.

My issue is that there is many younger or older Hispanic people that may have parents or other close family members there illegally You can't even work anymore I don't think they imagined it going this far
Devin Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Idk a lot of dumb Mexicans voted for Trump and he was highly for building that border.

Aren Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 No. Undocumented immigrants will mass leave Florida, but the legal ones will stay put and continue voting Republican. Florida is a magnet for well-off right-ring Latinos.
Nights Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Nah, Cuban Floridians in particular probably love this policy.
Vermillion Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 NO. The majority of Florida Latinos see themselves as white (as post-generations assimilate) and they’re socially conservative. A direct comparison to Tejanos, mostly through the Cubanos influx in Miami.
QueenBeyoncé Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 No. They will continue to vote against themselves along with white women.

I think only the Mexicans and Puerto Ricans are more socially liberal, right?

suneclipse121 Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 It’s sad but just reaffirming what others on the thread have already said the answer is probably no. It literally continues to bewildered me how selfish the mentality is that once you made it to this country and become a citizen that suddenly you want to pull up the ladder on the ones after you and not extend that opportunity to your own people. It’s disgusting frankly. I’m the child of an immigrant who became a citizen and my mom still wants everyone to be afforded the same opportunities. I know the immigration system is completely broken but to see some Latinos turn against their own is sick. Cubans are especially guilty of this way of thinking.
Miss Show Business Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Someone on TikTok noted that California started becoming a Democratic powerhouse as soon as one of the former Republican Governors signed an anti-immigration bill. If this isn't enough to shake Cuban-Americans awake, then nothing will.
Leppie Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 Asking for immigration status at a hospital?! So if they're undocumented they refuse to help?!
