Brandi should've won over Harry. His album was so soulless.

We need to learn that in any given year there are multiple deserving winners.  I personally think both in the OP are both objectively excellent albums that deserve to win.

That said there are some egregious examples.  Such as when 25 won over lemonade or when Jon Batiste won over the other nominees s.

Not this thread again. Art is subjective. The winner is the album that gets the most votes. Deal with it.

it's true that some years have multiple deserving winners, but in my opinion, there just always is that one album that deserves it more. not even just in sound quality but the overall moment and the things it represents. I agree that Lemonade should've definitely won as well! Jon Batiste deserved his win based on his talent.

I know its subjective? Thats why i ask people about times you feel another artist should've won instead! Im not shaming kacey loved that album too. I just loved Dirty Computer a little bit more. To get nominated for AOTY is a win already people :bird:

Well, sure but everyone will have a different idea of which one deserves it more.  Like personally, I think Golden Hour is the better album.  Others can disagree and both perspectives are completely valid.  Both deserved to win.

For me, I don’t think Batiste translated his talent to the actual product of the album well.  It’s certainly not bad, but could use more polishing.  It was not quite as strong as the other records that year imo.

The Fame is superior to Fearless

The Fame Monster is superior to The Suburbs.

And truthtfully, it's hard for me to fault them going for Jon when AOTY was especially weak that year. HTE and Evermore were the albums I felt strongly about, and both artists had already won the category before so whatever.

The abbreviation is HsH, HH is often used by neo nazis to mean "H*il Hitl*r"

Anyway, HsH won:

  • Best Engineered Album (non-classical) at the Grammys
  • Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammys
  • Album of the Year at the Grammys
  • British Album of the Year at the Brits
  • International Album of the Year at the Juno Awards (main music awards in Canada)
  • UK Album of the Year at the Music Producer Guild Awards
  • Best International Album at Premios Odeon (main music awards in Spain)
  • Best Solo Act International at the Swiss Music Awards (main music awards in Switzerland)
  • International Album of the Year at the GAFFA awards (main music awards in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden)
  • Best International Artist at the ARIAs (main music awards in Australia)
  • Best International Album at the Zebrik Awards (main music awards in Czech Republic)
  • It was also shortlisted to the Mercury Prize
  • As It Was just won an Ivor Novello award
  • It was the second most streamed eligible album
  • It was the second best seller in terms of pure sales for the eligible time
  • Of the last two points, the first were two different albums (UVST / 30). UVST was nowhere near top ten best pure sellers and 30 didn't have good streams. Harry was the perfect combination of both
  • It was critically acclaimed
  • It had the biggest worldwide (and US) hit of the eligible time
  • It was supported by a hugely successful sold out tour

It's time to let it go.
