Ava Max Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 https://www.blog.google/technology/safety-security/updating-our-inactive-account-policies Quote Starting later this year, if a Google Account has not been used or signed into for at least 2 years, we may delete the account and its contents – including content within Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet, Calendar), YouTube and Google Photos. I posted this in music news because any videos/music from inactive artists and fan uploads from inactive channels will be deleted
vale9001 Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 (edited) Very stupid idea. There are really interesting videos from inactive accounts from 10 years ago or more. Some of them now can be irrilevant videos, in 20-30 years for some reason they can be very interesting videos for social antropologists or even historians. Just think if we could have so many videos made by people from 100 years ago talking about events and general things of 100 years ago. I can understand for the other google services but youtube shouldn't be touched. Edited May 17, 2023 by vale9001 8 2
Ava Max Posted May 17, 2023 Author Posted May 17, 2023 Any inactive Music blogs hosted by blogger will be gone too
MoonGoodandHappy Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 The best videos on the Internet are the one in inactive channels. 1

Ava Max Posted May 17, 2023 Author Posted May 17, 2023 Based on this in guessing any inactive accounts from major sites besides Google and Twitter will be purged in the next few years

I think youtube spoecifically made it so that any person who has uploaded any video on youtube will not get deleted no matter how inactive they are. only accounts that havent posted anything on youtube will get deleted. makes the mose sense this way 1
ATRL Moderator Azulito Posted May 17, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted May 17, 2023 Asking someone to sign into an account every two years is really not a lot. The only issue I could see with this is if someone passes away; they should have an exception for cases like that. 1
