Daddy Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 I always knew we would see this come back. It's just too strong of a song to not be revived
GoodGuyGoneGhetto Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 907K daily streams for a song released in 1966, in 2023? Oh, Marvin Gaye you will always be famous for this classic alone. Poor Diana Ross though.

This already had a resurrection in 2003. We don't need to do this every 20 years or so. Ross’ version is more charming, whimsical and idiosyncratic, especially with the delicate, spoken-word verses. It’s a fantastic Pop rendition. Gaye and Terrell‘s version is more soulful, upbeat and a perfect sing-a-long. I also go back and forth between both often but the original is clearly what has connected more strongly with the GP over the decades. It’s different with, let’s say, “Lady Marmalade”. The remake is just better in every way. Labelle’s original is fun but not as pleasant in my opinion. Edited May 15, 2023 by GoodGuyGoneGhetto

Poor Tammi Tarrell though. She deserved more. Was she really physically and domestically abused by James Brown? Edited May 15, 2023 by GoodGuyGoneGhetto
