At this point the Netherlands should just withdraw next year. They're the biggest non-big 5 financial contributor. Let the EBU feel the consequences of their actions.

yup, AVROTROS has to withdraw (and take the Flemish broadcaster with them too, I'm sure they'd be willing)

ALSO, it's so ******* irresponsible of the EBU to let people speculate about this nonevent for over 24 hours. I've seen international press allege that he physically beat someone, I've seen people speculate that he sexually assaulted someone. They're not doing ANYTHING to protect the artists that make their little show.

it's actually sick that they don't give a damn and would simply play a pre-recorded video

no respect or morals in any way

EBU Director General: "Can't look back and say it was the wrong decision"

Ahead of tonight's final, thousands of protesters have taken to the streets to protest Israel's involvement. EBU Director General Noel Curran is adamant that the decision to let Israel compete was the right one.

"I cannot look back and say that the EBU has made the wrong decision, he says in an interview with SVT."

"We saw that Israel's TV company had not broken any of the EBU's rules regarding the competition."

He also says that he believes that tonight's final will go smoothly and that he is not worried about the security surrounding the final.

There's a police investigation. What do you want them to say? Do you want them to potentially compromise it by making a statement? The investigation, if it proceeds, could take weeks to reach a conclusion. It would be premature and inflammatory to say anything before it either does (or does not) reach a conclusion.

I hope todays show will the messiest ever, I love Eurovision but after everything I want every artist to destroy ebu (and Isreal), I hope there will be tons of broken performances with artists doing SOMETHING.

also I want Bambi to put on her body full of meaningful writings like **** EBU and her forhead

yeah this is disgusting, as i said before we had so little information apart from the EBU specifying that a female member of the production crew filed the complaint and then a day later the dutch delegation saying that the measures are disproportionate in their opinion leaving people to spread rumours on social media. This entire thing went out of control within a few hours yet the EBU still has not done any damage control.

all of the dutch-friendly delegations should pile up with complaints once this thing is over tomorrow because obviously they're probably stressed enough about tonight already, so it's unrealistic that much is going to happen in that regard before the show.

So why are they saying this

ok that's actually unhinged if they can't even withdraw at will

and although I want them to go on stage and give their best performances ever, no one should be held hostage like that

Oh just to be back in 2021 again after the cancelled 2020 from the Pandemic and the most controversy we got was Damiano allegedly doing a line of coke.

Apprently because of this ,as detailed in some reddit comment:

Quote

Some TV Tropes user (with a lot of free time) explained all the detailed reasons why 1991 was bad in one of the "So Bad It's Horrible" subpages.

** The set was a shambles and hastily put together at Cinecitta Studios, right on the outskirts of Rome. The most charitable thing to be said about it was that it at least looked like a decent Hollywood Studios attraction lobby at Disney World, but you could hardly call it a suitable set for an international contest with millions of viewers.
** While the songs were generally on a strong level, several were butchered by the ill-prepared orchestra. Most infamously, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s27fw44U7Qk Greece's dramatic ballad "I anoixi" by Sophia Vossou]] was completely derailed by [[DreadfulMusician a horrifically out-of-tune saxophone solo]]. According to Greek conductor Haris Andreadis, the original saxophone player (who handled the song fine in rehearsals) was let go ''right before the show'' due to asking for too much money, and the replacement never even rehearsed the song prior to the live broadcast.
** The pacing was the most sluggish of any contest before or since, not helped by the most infamous hosts to ever grace the stage, Toto Cutugno and Gigliola Cinquetti. The duo were picked for their prominence as Italian musicians and for being Italy's two Eurovision champions, but their chemistry was limited and their skills in Eurovision's two main languages (English and French) were virtually non-existent. Gigliola came off mildly better than Toto though, who compensated for his limited language skills by acting like a goofball through the whole show. The combination of an extended opening dance sequence and performances of both hosts' winning entries meant it took nearly fifteen minutes before the first act took the stage (sixteen if you count the postcard), the postcards - each almost a minute long of contestants singing popular songs - were a combined forty-five minutes long, and the excruciating voting sequence was an hour by itself due to Toto and Gigliola constantly screwing up while announcing the scores, which for some reason were announced in Italian as well as the standard English and French (a practice not usually made in other contests).

Are those the same people who accuse 20 year old girl of killing thousands of people?

Because if we had to rate person based on a country they are from and their war conflicts ... oooh where would we start Germany? France? .... I love both songs btw, its just hypothetical

she's joining the IDF after Eurovision so she might actually do that
